JOB DESCRIPTIONGENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
The Orthopaedic and Arthritis Center for Outcomes Research (http://www.brighamandwomens.org/research/labs/oracore/), an internationally recognized clinical and policy research group at Brigham and Womens Hospital, is seeking a data manager. Qualified candidates will have at least a bachelors degree and 3-5 years of experience with database management/data processing. Primary job functions will include form design, data collection system development, creation, and maintenance of Data Management Procedures manual, programming for importing collected data to central database, reporting and data quality assurance, creation and dissemination of high-level summary reports on study progress, and working with statisticians to create, refine, and update analytic datasets on an on-going basis and to perform preliminary analyses of the data.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work as the data manager on clinical studies
Develop, organize, and maintain study databases/data collection systems
Responsible for monitoring clinical site study recruitment, retention, and data quality
Interface with study staff (statisticians/program manager and study leadership) to develop standardized data cleaning and data reporting processes, and to perform preliminary analyses of the data
Responsible for creating and maintaining clean analysis datasets and accompanying codebooks/data documentation
At least 3 years of experience with database management or data processing experience preferred
High proficiency in statistical computing, SAS programming skills desired
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Detail and process oriented
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, including both long-term and term and short-term projects
Ability to learn to use new software programs
