SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide data management support in the areas of data extraction and manipulation, by developing extracts, cubes and aggregating data to support reports and user driven ad hoc reports. Partner with Business Analysts and Report Writers to gather and document reporting requirements and to analyze and determine functional specifications. Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of the data warehouse and metadata strategies.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
* Provide direct ad hoc reporting and data analysis.
* Troubleshoot data issues and defects.
* Develop SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and calculate information.
* Develop and maintain ETL processes and system documentation.
* Perform analysis on quality and source of data to determine accuracy of information being reported and analyze data relationships between systems.
* Identify long-term trends and relationships for data across groups.
* Extract, migrate, cleanse and validate data from varying platforms.
* Monitor and enforce compliance of data standards.
* Provide data support, standards, naming conventions, sourcing, feeds and logical database design.
* Analyze, maintain, and develop work on the metadata and model repository, data dictionary and operational data store.
* Examine data within area of responsibility in which results are less predictable.
* Plan, implement and develop reports for department or division for tracking and analyzing purposes.
* Evaluate moderately low risk problems and identifies solutions or alternatives.
* Use analytical techniques like critical and conceptual thinking to objectively analyze a situation, evaluate the pros, cons, and implications of multiple courses of action.
* Apply analysis of issues or situations to accomplish their daily work and recommends courses of action.
* Make decisions on actions under guidance from project leader, supervisor or manager that affects the team.
* Analyze and recommend resource needs for short term assignments.
* Compliance with all processes, procedures, and standards applicable to the position including (but not limited to): SSAE16 (Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements No. 16), CIP (Critical Infrastructure Protection), Change Management, Tariff (Open Access Transmission, Energy and Operating Reserve Markets Tariff), FERC (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission), NERC (North American Electric Reliability Corporation), U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and NAESB (North American Energy Standards Board).
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management or related technical field required.
Experience:
* Two years in data mining or data analysis and Oracle technologies preferred
* Deregulated energy market preferred
* Informatica, PL/SQL, Business Objects universe, Webi design and Crystal Reports experience desirable.
