Job Description
The McGraw-Hill Companies is one of the world's leading providers of information services and publishers of educational, business and professional informationStandard and Poors Data Strategy and Operations (DSO) group is currently seeking to hire a Data Associate. Selected individual will play a crucial role as the point of contact for Ratings data mapping, sourcing, reference data and also for compliance/regulatory reporting. The person selected for this role will be working as a key liaison with the IT organization on various regulatory projects and provide expertise from both a data analytic and report generation prospective. The reports are for use by the analytical business units as well as senior management. Qualified candidates must have experience in financial services and strong SQL Queries/IT Domain knowledge. Successful candidates need to be well rounded, possessing excellent writing, presentation and communication skills. Essential Accountabilities:
Work with the heads of the business units and other project stakeholders to define data quality requirements; understand their data reporting issues and partner with them to achieve higher data quality and enhanced efficiency.
Deliver tactical and strategic recommendations for the execution of necessary data activities with a concentrated focus on compliance and enterprise-wide acceptable solutions.
Assess and map processes and provide/implement recommendations to improve data quality.
Recommend solutions and procedures to the business to achieve high quality data and take into consideration other systems/software utilized for other purposes.
Manage and run ad hoc data queries from multiple database types to identify and correct data inconsistencies.
Create and update artifacts that are to be used as part of Data Operations activities such as data maintenance procedures.
Share experiences and ideas of good data management practices across the Data Operations teams.
Work with members of other teams such as Project Management, Business Units, and IT to understand, identify and address issues or opportunities that lead to effective data management processes and improvements in data quality and services.
The Data Strategy Operations group leverages data management best practice to improve the sophistication of SandPs analytical and data capabilities in areas such as surveillance, quantitative analysis, product development and risk management. Within and across each of the Data Strategy and Operations pillars are global teams of people with expertise in data management who work together to make data and information efficiently available for analytical activities and for new products and services, and work closely with IT to build and maintain critical database systems utilizing SandP-wide technology and architecture standards. This role is aligned with initiatives around Quality, Criteria, Compliance, and Risk. Selected individual will work closely with members of Ratings Analytical and Information Technology teams to understand business requirements for enhanced regulatory reporting.
Understanding of and experience in managing financial market data.
Fluent in querying via SQL
5+ years of work experience; 3 to 5 years data management experience.
Advanced multi-tasking skills.
Advanced time management skills.
Ability to work on international team and manage offshore and outsource resources.
Must be able to work in an international team including working with offshore and outsource team
Ability to work closely with project teams of 5+ individuals from different disciplines (IT, Project Management) across SandPs businesses.
Bachelors degree required.
