Garage is an advanced engineering organization in the globally recognized innovation ecosystems of Silicon Valley, Ca. and Tel Aviv, Israel. We are an in-house innovation hub acting like a start-up, with very smart people leading JCI to the forefront of sensor-based analytics helping to fulfill JCIs mission of zero harm to people and environment. We lead interaction and collaborations with internal and external partners and stakeholders to solve complex customer problems. We work in small teams that drive efficient development cycles delivering iterative output and innovative solutions in fast sprints.
Candidates for this position will be expected to scope and develop differentiated and compelling Internet of Things (IoT) solutions for smart building automation such as industrial facilities, residential and commercial buildings. They will contribute to the fast-paced field of the Internet of Things and Services, an exciting combination of business, technology and user experience that is driven by the rapid development of connectivity, mobile computing, social networks, and Big Data analytics.
Help evolve JCI's integrated IoT strategy for the smart building sector, with a focus on security, safety, energy and building automation and related use cases.
Scope and run sprints in small and fast teams of product hardware software data science dev ops professionals and developing learning and solutions in weeks not months leading to defining JCI's IoT solution set for smart buildings comprised of hardware, software and services.
Represent JCI as one of our IoT experts and drive strategic conversations and business opportunities with key internal stakeholders, customers, partners and strategic ecosystem companies.
Research and provide information on new and emerging IoT technologies and product capabilities. Constantly keep abreast of the latest innovations by surveying and benchmarking emerging new technologies for the IoT at top-tier universities, government and industry including incubators and start-ups.
Support cyber security analysis and initiatives as required for deployed solutions.
Masters or PhD in ME, EE, CE or CS.
3 years experience in IoT or connected device experience and demonstrated knowledge of the smart building, building management/automation, or related sectors (e.g., smart retail, smart manufacturing/industrial, smart energy, home automation, etc.).
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Technical breadth and an understanding of how following IoT technologies relate to providing a superior solution and customer value.
Hardware Engineering: Developing and installing Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and other connectivity solutions.
Networking: Designing, maintaining, and optimizing large-scale traffic across secure, reliable, and redundant backbones that connect different destinations with knowledge of typical wireless connections, EFID, and emerging wireless protocols
Information Security: Vulnerability assessment, PKI security, ethical hacking, wireless network security, data ethics, and privacy policies
UI/UX Design: Ability to develop effective, user-friendly interfaces, responsive web design, and service design
Mobile Development: Knowledge of mobile apps that communicate with external hardware and sensors
Business Intelligence: Collect, store, & analyze smart device data streams, sensor data analysis, data center management, predictive analytics, and programming skills in big data platforms
Cross-domain understanding: Relevant knowledge from domains of Building Automation, HVAC control, security, energy management/ efficiency solutions and sustainability best practices.
