Database Administrator

P Database Administrator /P P SQL Server Database Management Administrator based in our Houston, TX office. /P P Database management includes SQL configuration, backup and restores, security, performance tuning and storage planning for production volume and engineering applications as well as working with the DBA team members to keep the enterprise current database technology. /P P Responsibilities: /P UL LI Works with Sr. DBA on installation and configuration of MS SQL database software and databases on new server environment; understand the hardware environment and work with application owner(s) to set up and maintain databases. /LI LI Understands application specific database, data dictionaries and server security model and administrates user access to SQL Servers and databases. /LI LI Works with Sr. DBA on monitoring database management software upgrade, release, and patches; coordinates with application owner to fully test and upgrade new releases and patches. /LI LI Works with Sr. DBA to develop, implement, test and maintain backup and recovery plan on the databases. /LI LI Understands the application database storage and retrieval needs and derive disk storage requirements; /LI LI Monitors database performance using selected system monitor tools; installs and maintains selected system monitor tools if needed; works with infrastructure team to improve performance /LI LI Schedules and performs database indexing to maintain and tune application database performance and improve process efficiency. /LI LI Works with Sr. DBA to set up database DR replication in the DR scope and tests to ensure the replication quality; supports annual DR environment testing. /LI LI Provides support to application team such as SQL reporting service and SQL scripts to extract and/or load data to support; Works with DW team on ETL setup and implementation; supports application team on database services on version upgrades and patch updates. /LI LI Works closely with IT infrastructure/network, Application and PMO teams to provide and/or develop current and future plans and activities including implementation/development of projects or any technology-based solutions to business driven needs. /LI LI Recommends improvements to DBA team processes, practices & standards. Enforces technical standards, guidelines and best practices in application usage, management, testing, data integration and compliance. /LI /UL P Qualifications: /P UL LI BS or MS degree in computer science, information management, engineering or related field is preferred. /LI LI Minimum 5 years MS SQL Server DBA experience. Experience with MS SQL2005 Required; Additional experience with SQL2008R2 preferred /LI LI Experience in database mirroring, Transact SQL development, SQL server performance monitoring tools and knowledge of MS SSRS and SSIS are preferred. /LI LI Experiences with production volume and engineering applications are preferred. /LI LI Knowledge of Oil & Gas Operations Production volume and engineering information technologies, data requirements and application functionalities are preferred. /LI LI Excellent communications and problem solving skills. Ability to multi-task from project work to support work in multiple environment and applications on any given day.
