Job Description

General Purpose:

Responsible for managing the demand forecasting processes to support the SSB Sales work cross-functionally across Sales and Operations to manage end-to-end demand forecasting process and tools to achieve high forecast accuracy across customer channels.

He/She must understand the priority of demand planning specifically in multi-site manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will have large scale project/change experience and understand how to manage with disparate systems, tools and data. Must have ability to communicate up and down the organization and a confident commanding presence would be very nice to have.


* Maintain monthly statistical demand forecasts
* Use historical order data and standard statistical modeling techniques to generate the baseline statistical forecast
* Coordinate with the Sales organization to incorporate market intelligence to enrich the baseline forecast and ensure known drivers accounted for (e.g., promotional effects, new product introductions, etc.)
* Collaborate with central S&OP / Supply Planning to ensure the translation of the unconstrained demand plan is actionable to support the operations
* Provide detailed, timely forecast reporting for input to monthly S&OP Demand Review
* Accountable for reporting forecast accuracy metrics and seek to continuously improve forecast accuracy by tracking and performing root-cause analyses - to improve both statistical methods and processes.
* Assist the organization with implementing an advanced statistical forecasting software package and/or a broader advanced planning & scheduling system
* Coordinate with IT and other functions to ensure the underlying data/system, as required to support robust forecasting, are in-place
* Pressure test monthly sales input and validate forecast output at appropriate levels of aggregation before published monthly
* Maintain a detailed knowledge of all components of the demand forecast including: statistical baseline, promotion uplifts, sales and marketing intelligence, new product introductions and market trends
* Ensure all information flows to supply planning - communicate significant forecast changes and what-if projections
* Participates in the annual budget development process
* Manage monthly cadence and ensure forecasting timelines met


* Strong knowledge of advanced forecasting methods, probability & statistics
* Advanced capabilities in data analytics, processing, synthesis, and insight generation
* Experience with granular demand forecasting in promotionally-driven consumer businesses
* In depth knowledge of supply and demand planning, manufacturing, or related experience
* Understanding of new product commercialization and discontinuation processes



* Bachelor's DegreeRequired -Operations, Statistics, Finance, Mathematics, or Engineering preferred
* 5+ Years' experience in a demand planning/ forecasting role
* Experience with operating an advanced Demand Planning & Forecasting tool (e.g., JDA, Oracle, Logility)
* Deep analytical and statistical work experience, in an Analyst-type role
* Advanced planning systems (e.g., JDA, Oracle, Logility)
* Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Project, PowerPoint, Word)
* Oracle Hyperion Essbase
* Minitab or other statistical package
* Advanced quantitative and analytical skills
* Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
* Strong project/program management skills
* Leadership ability to work collaboratively with others and drive results in a team-based environment
* Demonstrated history of setting up/ implementing new processes

Desired/Nice to have:

* Advanced degree in quantitative field
* Experience implementing an advanced Demand Planning & Forecasting tool
* APICS or IBF certification
