DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Under the guidance of the Sr. Assistant Director of the Utility Customer Service Branch, has overall responsibility for the strategy and effective execution of meter reading operations, dispatch, new service, inspections & compliance, and meter service processes while ensuring compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Develops and monitors meter operations goals and objectives. Develops and implements processes and/or operational improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of meter operations. Ensures productivity meets or exceeds service and quality standards of internal and external customers.
Supports resolution of elevated customer issues, demonstrating genuine concern for customers while retaining good will and rapport. Manages all aspects of personnel, building a cooperative work team and productive environment. Ensures the section responds to the needs of the public, administration, City Council and executive management in a timely and professional manner as required.
Researchs, reviews and evaluates new data, reports, products and other information to ensure Section policies and procedures are current.
May act as responsible authority for UCS in the absence of the Sr. Assistant Director and routinely act as the Branch liaison to other departments, government agencies and the private sector.
There are no major sources of discomfort, i.e., essentially normal office environment with acceptable lighting.
THIS IS A DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS & ENGINEERING EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT POSITION AT THE TIER 1 LEVEL.
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or closely related field. A Master's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or a field closely related to the work being performed may be substituted for two years of experience.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Seven years of progressively more complex/professional experience in meter operations roles (meter reading operations, meter services, dispatch, new service installations, inspections however, the Department may administer a skill assessment evaluation.

Factors used in determining the salary offered include the candidate's qualifications as well as the pay rates of other employees in this classification.
Pay Grade 30
