SUMMARY

The Development Services Specialist has significant responsibilities with regard to oversight of the Raiser s Edge database used to support the philanthropic efforts of five Foundations. Under the supervision of the Director of Development Services, the Specialist serves as the department s liaison on cross team fundraising projects/initiatives and assists with daily operational oversight. The Specialist functions as the database administrator for the Raiser s Edge application and its integrated components. The Specialist works closely with the Director of Development Services to outline, document and implement effective, efficient and fiscally responsible operational and database management policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

* Serves as the Raiser s Edge operational & functional subject matter expert

* Serves as the primary operational and database liaison on fundraising project initiatives as directed by the Director of Development Services

* Identifies operational deficiencies and recommends standards, policies and procedures that will mitigate risk ensure data and database integrity

* Assists the Development Services staff with the database administration activities for multiple database instances of the Raiser s Edge

* Responsible for administration and oversight of Raiser s Edge Security and Configuration, and the creation of new Campaign, Fund and Appeal records

* Assists the Director with oversight of daily data entry and maintenance of biographic and demographic constituent data

* Assists with the creation of donor acknowledgement / tax receipt letters ensuring that they meet non-profit tax substantiation requirements and are accurate and timely.

* Coordinates and assists with the operational handling of donations and purchases from fundraising events

* Assures the integrity of philanthropic data by performing regular data audit checks, identifying data entry errors and/or incorrect code usage and taking corrective action to mitigate future errors

* Reviews duplicate records reports and utilizes merge function to eliminate duplicate

* Ensures that donor data, both electronic and paper form, are properly secured and retained

* Assists the Development Specialist and the Finance Department with the resolution of reconcilement issues

* Proactively looks for ways to optimize Raiser s Edge functionality to track donor and/or donation data that is not currently tracked or tracked outside of Raiser s Edge

* Proactively looks for ways to optimize Raiser s Edge functionality to automate manual processes, improve inefficient and/or ineffective processes.

* Works with the Director of Development Services to outline, implement and maintain data integrity procedures, processes and policies that efficiently and effectively enhance data integrity

* Successfully completes complex data retrieval / report requests, processes data imports and global changes

* Establish, and maintain communicative and collaborative working relationships with other departments within the Foundations as well as key support departments like Finance and IT

* Assists the Director with the coordination of Raiser s Edge software and data enrichment services upgrades.

* Assist with training of new staff members

* Works with vendors as needed

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

* College degree and/or 3-5 years work experience in a non-profit setting desired, preferably in an operational capacity.

* 2-4 yrs.of hands-on practical Raiser s Edge experience preferred.

* Understanding of basic accounting / reconcilement principles.

* Understanding of philanthropic substantiation / receipting requirements.

* A strong understanding of database management principles

* Excellent interpersonal, analytical and problem solving skills

* Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion, while maintaining the security of confidential and sensitive donor information.

* Ability to successfully collaborate with others in a team environment as well as the ability to work independently

* Ability successfully manage multiple projects./operational activities and set-priorities and meet deadlines

* Excellent written and oral communications skills with the ability to articulate complex information in a comprehensive way to a diverse audience.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Lutheran Senior Services (LSS) requires drivers of licensed company vehicles and those using their own vehicles for business purposes have the appropriate driver s license, insurance coverage, and meet the auto liability carrier s driver s criteria.

A well-lighted and ventilated working area that has temperature control system (air conditioning and heat). Minimal exposure to infectious diseases and blood borne pathogens. Minimal exposure to chemicals and hazardous waste. The work will have some short notice requests, timelines for completion of tasks or reports and some major projects extending over months. The employee will experience frequent travel by car with occasional overnight stays. Some exposure to outside weather conditions in the course of travel.
