**The LPN** provides direct patient care under the supervision of the Registered Nurse.

+ Provides nursing care according to clinic policies and procedures, including thorough patient assessment, initiation and discontinuation of treatment, monitoring during treatment, assessment following treatment, completing primary nurse responsibilities, assuring ordered lab is obtained
+ Determines patient care priorities and organizes workload.
+ Assess and monitors the patient access, taking appropriate action if a problem is noted. Documents thoroughly.
+ Understands and follows the clinic infection control policies and procedures.
+ Understands the basic concepts of water treatment and reuse and the effects on patient care.
+ Documents care of the patient according to DCI policies, including changes in the patient condition and other pertinent data.
+ Communicates clearly and effectively with co-workers, physicians, patients, and supervisors, keeping all appropriate people aware of changes in the patient condition.
+ Is knowledgeable of and follows the clinics' Risk Management program.
+ May be assigned to administer medications to patients, educates the patient about medications ordered by the physician, and documents according to DCI policy.
+ Attends required in-services and staff meetings to maintain and expand competency and skills.
**Education and Certification:**
+ Completion of an accredited program in practical nursing.
+ Current LPN license
+ Current CPR/AED certification
+ Meets state requirements for certification or IV Therapy training.
+ DCI provides comprehensive hands-on and theory orientation/training in order to equip our nurses for success.
+ Should have knowledge of Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
While performing the duties of the job, the employee must have the following abilities:
+ Ability to transfer, manipulate, support or position equipment and patients, with or without assistance, which requires strength, gross motor and fine motor muscle coordination
+ Ability to administer prescribed treatments using arms to reach, and hands to finger, handle or feel
+ Ability to perform CPR and venipuncture which requires occasional stooping, kneeling or crouching
+ Ability to stand for long periods of time
+ Ability to communicate with patients and staff along with the ability to detect and discern audible alarms; Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
