Die Cast Supervisor
Job Summary: Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in molding, machining, and finishing parts or assemblies into units.
Organizational Relationship: This position reports directly to the Plant Manager. This position directly supervises 30+ employees in the Die Casting, Machining and Paint Departments.
Provides a safe work environment including, but not limited to, having monthly safety meetings, active departmental safety committees, regular review of departmental practices and safety policy and complete cooperation with corporate safety officer. Enforces safety regulations.
Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
Interprets company policies to workers and enforces as appropriate.
Interprets specifications, blueprints and job orders to workers and assign duties.
Establishes or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
Recommends measures to improve production methods equipment performance and quality of product.
Directs workers in achieving company established quality standards.
Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department or work crew.
Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
Maintains accurate and current time and attendance records.
Maintains departmental inventory.
Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
Reports machine and equipment malfunctions to maintenance personnel.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Familiar with lean tools such as 5S, SMED, Standard Work and TPM. Must be able to sustain improvements within departments.
Associate s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or three to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands and fingers to operate office machines and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasion required to stand; walk; stoop; kneel; crouch; or crawl.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
