Job Description

ON Semiconductor defines System IP as reusable, logically complex or performance critical, intellectual property that requires system level consideration when integrating into a custom ASIC. Examples include but are not limited to ... - Memory Interfaces (DDR1/2/3 Controllers and PHYs, QDR1/2, etc.) - Data Communication Interfaces (PCI Express, Ethernet, USB, SATA, etc.) - Processor Subsystems (ARM, PPC, etc.) The System IP team is responsible for the selection, acquisition, design, verification, integration and support of System IP, with a special focus towards reuse and quality. Currently, we have an opening for a design/verification engineer. This engineer will focus on the acquisition, design, verification and integration of high-speed and logically complex IP into ON Semiconductor's advanced ASIC product line. Responsibilities will include working with the team to ... - Select and acquire system IP (when a buy decision is made) - Develop system IP (when a make decision is made) o Producing a detailed design specification o Designing RTL and block level verification - Verification of system IP at the sub-system level o Producing a detailed verification plan/report o Verification through simulation, lab testing and formal techniques - Integration of system IP o Producing application notes, manufacturing test plans and other integration guidelines o Synthesis, LEC, DFT insertion and other work required for the target technology. - Lab characterization of system IP o Characterization of all electrical parameters to ensure physical interface IP is compliant to industry standards across all target process corners. o Produce a detailed characterization report - Provide both pre-sales and post-sales support for assigned IP cores to both internal and external customers. Position Requirements - BS degree in Electrical Engineering or related field - At least 7 years of digital design or verification experience - Expertise in either Verilog or VHDL (Verilog preferred) - Verification experience with one of the leading simulation tools - Experience with ASIC synthesis and STA - Working knowledge of basic hardware lab diagnostic tools o Logic analyzer, O-Scope, etc... - Excellent written and verbal communication skills!! - Self motivated with the ability to work independently and interface effectively with team members in a remote location Optional (Plus):
- MS degree in Electrical Engineering or related field - Experience with high-speed interfaces, such as DDR2, PCI Express or XAUI - Assertion based simulation experience (System Verilog) - ASIC place & route experience - SPICE simulation experience
