Job Description

Review incoming material and verify that it matches the documentationPerform a visual inspection for potential physical defectsPerform a dimensional inspection, if requiredVerify material traceabilityCoordinate with Metalurgist to verify that material meets specificationsPerform SAP material movement transactionMove material with a forkliftCreate and send out Internal Material Release notificationsAssist Dimensional inspection departmentPerform a full range of mechanical inspections using standard mechanical gauges and hand tools to ensure conformance of machined parts to applicable standards, specifications and engineering drawings. Will be responsible for the quality inspections/documentation and identifying ways to improve current process.Be able to generate Inspection Gauge Logs (IGLs) from supplied drawings for each project.Generate non-conformance reports and help develop a tracking system to identify problem areas by discrepancy type/machine/machinist.Communicate with Design Engineering, Internal/External vendors and Purchasing to resolve quality issues.Assure that all inspection standards/gauges are calibrated and kept up to date.Work with planners and project managers on a daily basis to fulfill priorities

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have GED or equivalent (A strong mathematical background is required) or machine trade school.Must have at least 3 years experience in manufacturing inspection.Must have a CWI, and ASNT Level II Certification in at least 3 processes.Must have a good understanding of welding processes used in manufacturing.Must have a good understanding of NDE process.Must have good written and verbal communication skills.Must have good computer skills and knowledge of computer software (Windows, Word, Excel, Etc.).Must be able to follow any written and approved process control documents.Must be willing to work overtime when required.Must be self-directed and detail oriented.Must be able to read and follow a typical shop router.Experience in using statistical process controls is a plus.
