* Purpose:

* The Director Category Development Control Markets, Regional Accounts and Shopper Insights will be responsible for our Control Market and Regional Accounts business from a category perspective and driving our overall teams shopper insights and strategy agenda.For the customer facing aspects of this role, primary focus will be on driving category growth at our key customers for which Diageo is a category advisor (Virginia, Ohio, Idaho, Meijer and Military/AAFES). This role is charged with the development and implementation of holistic insight-based category strategies, assortment, shelving, promotional planning and conversion driving business building ideas. The candidate must be able to build strong relationships and have strong enough communication/influencing skills to drive a winning category strategy with retailers.This role is also responsible for leading the overall Category Development and Shopper Marketing insights agenda. The candidate must have an in depth knowledge on how to develop customer level, research based shopper insights that can be converted to business building opportunities for our customers and Diageo. A proven track record of developing and executing insights will be paramount to this role.

* + Manage day to day activities of 3 sub-teams; Control Team, Regional Team and Cross Functional Insights Team(s) within the larger Cat Dev & Shopper Marketing team.+ Partner with our National Accounts and Control Marketing Sales teams to ensure Category Management opportunities are identified and acted upon+ Support Diageo culture and values, and provides critical input to the Commercial Planning & Activation team regarding trade and performance.

* + Partnering with National Accounts and Control Market Sales/Leadership to provide focus on creating an efficient assortment and effective merchandising agenda that will help the spirits shelf work harder for the category throughout our key customers+ Development of category strategies and key activation customized for key customers+ Responsible for determining customer category opportunity gaps and potential demand side category development initiatives+ Communicates opportunities internally to National Accounts, Control Market and Division Sales Leads and prioritizes based on projected financial impact+ Responsible for post-evaluation of category development programs and initiatives relating to the shelf throughout the Division+ Responsible for developing team and individuals capabilities

* College graduate with 15-20 years relevant experience that should include:
+ Proven people management skills with track record of developing, promoting high performing teams+ Category management with leading organization/customer.+ Solid software skills relevant to category management function (syndicated, SPECTRA, Panel data, sales tracking)+ Previous category captaincy or equivalent experience preferred+ Beverage Alcohol experience highly preferred+ Direct/indirect distributor experience preferred+ Sales experience with major CPG or beverage category a plus+ Strong presentation and communication skills+ Track record of success in:
-Category development-Diagnostics/problem solving+ Insight generation and strategy development .
