The DIRECTOR, RISK MANAGEMENT AND OPERATIONS is a multi-faceted position with a very broad set of responsibilities requiring significant competencies in the areas of financial control, finance/accounting, receivables management, operations, credit underwriting, and client services. The incumbent will be a seasoned risk professional with expert critical thinking, leadership and analytical skills.
Ensure effective process design and financial controls to prevent billing or payment processing errors or omissions that may result in financial expense to WEX and/or customer hardship for clients for large, strategic Fleet and Virtual Card relationships, both commercial and government. This includes the timely and efficient collection of past due receivables, and prevention/detection of large variances or reconciling items.
Oversee a credit underwriting and administration function for the companys growing Global portfolio which includes WEX Europes Virtual Card portfolio consisting primarily of mid to large companies, such as on-line travel agencies. This role also plays a significant role in the overall governance and structure of credit risk at WEX subsidiaries and joint ventures.
Administration of our WEX Direct rebate program which pays out nearly $50 million annually to qualified fleets.
Oversee the day to day administration of our tax-exempt program. This includes the accurate set-up and renewal of all tax exempt fleet customers as well as the accurate and timely filing of Federal and State CCI returns which totaled accounts for $15-20 million in company receivables. WEX exempts upwards of $100 million annually for our qualified Fleets.
Responsible for leading a department of nearly 30 people including six direct reports of which two are located in the WEX Europe office and managing an annual budget of just over $2 million.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EXPERIENCE FOR CONSIDERATION
5 years of supervisory/leadership experience in accounting, reconciliation, financial audit/control, quality control, or credit underwriting and administration
Four year college degree required MBA highly desirable
Experience in large credit underwriting
Advanced querying and reporting tools such as SAS and/or SQL
Must pass a successful background check
Ability to find and recommend process improvements and execute against recommendations
Proven track record of continuous innovation to streamline processes and attain scale
Strong critical thinking skills
Advanced negotiation and dispute resolution skills
Strong Verbal and Written Communication and Presentation skills
Working knowledge of Siebel, OFIS, TSYS, and PeopleSoft
Intermediate Excel, MS Access, Word, and Outlook
Working knowledge of database structures and Business Intelligence applications
Organized, analytical, detail orientated
Effective time management and prioritization skills in a very fast paced work environment
Ability to see the big picture but be able to bring it down to a level associates can relate to
Proven ability to lead and direct a successful team
Ability to motivate employees
