Position Summary
In this position, the Laboratory Director will provide twenty-four hour administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability for the planning, operating, staffing, and coordinating of laboratory services at St. Vincent Healthcare. The Laboratory Director is responsible for the daily operations of the clinics and inpatient Laboratory including supervising staff, maintaining equipment and purchasing supplies as well as performing routine and/or complex tests on clinical specimens.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Management Responsibilities
Laboratory/Quality Control
? Performs laboratory testing, reports test results and handles Quality Assurance Flags
? Reports any abnormal observations or unusual circumstances
? Prepares and labels reagents, controls, and standards
? Recognizes instrument malfunction, trouble shoots problem and /or calls service representative and researches and develops new procedures
Staff Supervision
? Hires, trains, orients, coaches, mentors, disciplines, schedules and evaluates staff
? Responsible for lab processes including quality control/improvement activities, safety training, and supply ordering
? Coordinates lab operations and monitors Joint Commission, safety and regulatory standards
Quality Improvement
Participates in committees and/or task forces to redesign healthcare delivery at St. Vincent Healthcare and the SCL Montana Region
Collaborates with other departments or disciplines and includes all stakeholders to develop methods and/or systems for improving quality and reducing costs
Utilizes interactive planning processes to plan and implement change
SPAN style=FONT-FAMILY: Full Time (36-40 hrs/week) Day
