WOW is currently seeking a Director of Data Management to join our Operational Support Systems (OSS) team. The Director's primary role will be to improve data quality to support business intelligence and advanced analytics for WOW. The Director will lead our Data Management Program, including the selection and implementation of policies and procedures to support data governance and master data management. The Director will also serve as the central representative of data needs from business stakeholders, and coordinate with technology stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have data and analytics expertise, strong business acumen, and experience working with information technology teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following but are not limited to:

* Develop best practices for data management, data quality, business rules and requirements
* Champion/evangelize the importance of data processes, data integrity and cleanliness, and the strategic use of data (for both already existing and potential new data sources)
* Work with the Data architect to set the vision for the Data Management Program and build a roadmap to successfully implement data governance
* Coordinate development and training of Data Governance processes and supports organizational change efforts required to establish Data Governance capabilities
* Participate with the Data Architect in defining the data roadmap
* Establish and lead the Business Intelligence Steering Committee to help set the direction of business intelligence, resolve alternative strategies and areas of business focus and prioritize BI releases
* Build and lead a team to understand core business issues, identify data needs, and support development of new Business Intelligence
* Oversee and directs staff in managing data needs of internal clients
* Develop and implements data management policies, procedures and best practices
* Monitor, identify, investigate, prioritize, remediate and communicate data quality issues
* Provide leadership by setting priorities, assigning work and coaching/mentoring team members
* May lead complex projects involving high level coordination among departments and other business units
* Establish and implement the data quality program and leads the execution to ensure data quality standards are being met
* All other job related duties as it relates to the job function or as delegated by the management team
* This role will report directly to Vice President, Application Development
* This role will coordinate closely with data architect and technology leads from other technology areas, while virtually leveraging subject matter experts from any needed technical or business area
* This role will collaborate with members of the business, project teams and IT staff as needed to fulfill the responsibilities described above

Systems & Business Knowledge

* Excellent organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to manage staff, projects and resources to meet timelines and budgets
* Excellent interpersonal, written/oral communication skills with all levels of management and staff
* Thorough understanding of overall data models, data relationships, mapping lineage and business rules

The role will require the applicant to be focused, goal driven, and possess an obsessive attention to detail. Applicant must be a team player who can motivate as well as provide coaching as needed. Must be able to work under pressure, along with demonstrating solid time management skills and demonstrate a winning attitude.


* 8+ years of leadership experience with a proven track record of successful project management and supervision of analytic/technical roles
* 8+ years of data and analytics experience working in a data-intensive field, including data construction of data models, and data visualization
* Demonstrated ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner
* Demonstrated ability to influence and advocate change at all levels of the company, including both key executive stakeholders and those engaged in day-to-day operations
* Experience working with very large data sets, data warehoused across several first, second, and third party applications
Bachelor's degree in computer science, system analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience

Computer Skills:

* Experience working with reference data and Master Data Management tools
* Experience working with relational databases and SQL
* Experience working with Big Data and distributed computing tools (MapReduce, Hadoop, Hive, etc.)
* Experience working with analysts in a research/modeling environment that leverages tools such as R, SAS, or SPSS
* Experience with agile-based software development methodologies
* Knowledge of telecom industry
