As the Director of Data Science & Analytics, you will oversee formation, growth and execution of the Aerospace Data Science & Analytics team. You will provide strategic direction and guidance to a team of Data Scientists, Data Architects and Data Engineers in using machine-learning techniques and building algorithms and recommendation systems. You will work with mix of open source and in-house developed tools but looking for you to help us define the best-of-breed tool set.Key Responsibilities include:Leading team of Data Scientists to drive growth and improve performance of our products and services and well as improve performance of our manufacturing processes and sales & customer support processes.Leveraging your Data Science background to guide research and development of our modeling and categorization algorithms.Developing algorithms using Python, Java, and/or ScalaCollaborating with our HOS Gold Enterprise leaders, Engineering & Strategic Marketing to understand what s currently possible, and what might be possible in the future (ideation) to drive growth and identify new product or service offerings.Establish Data offerings strategy for Aerospace Gold Enterprises and Functional organizations aligned to business STRAP & Breakthrough initiatives.Partner with our corporate Data Analytics team to drive collaboration and best practices across HoneywellWork with corporate partners to establish scalable infrastructure to support data and analytics solutions.Ensure alignment with the Aerospace IOT COE and Data Governance & Data Management groups.Speaking at conferences, writing and contributing to scientific papers, and encouraging others to do the sameExperiences and Characteristics we are looking for include:Self-starter with the drive to unlock the true power of big, noisy, messy, real-world dataYou have extensive applied research or industry work experience in driving data monetization & bring new revenue generating solutions to market.Experience managing teams of Data Scientists, and believe they re best motivated when they actively participate with the results of their work in productionDemonstrated experience working with multi-terabyte-sized data setsExperience with modern data science tools such as Spark, Hadoop, Storm, etc.Experience with the development of machine learning algorithms and predictive modelsYou know how to evaluate speed vs. quality tradeoffs in machine learning modelYou Must Have:Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics or related field.Minimum 10years of profession experience in Data Science or related roleMinimum 5years of management experience in Data Science or related roleMinimum 5years leading cross functional teams in delivering new revenue products We Value:Master s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, MBA or related field is preferredProficiency with at least one programming language (such as Perl, python, C/C++, java) and data extraction and analysis language (SQL, R, SAS)Experience creating new markets in the analytics space.Innovative problem solver that has experience utilizing business processes, customer engagement and go to market techniques to drive value to customers.Business acumen, with ability to draw clear connections between data modeling activities and business challenges/opportunitiesExperience working with remote and global teamsCustomer focus and process disciplineResults driven with a positive can do attitudeExcellent collaboration and negotiation skillsHighly team orientedDemonstrated success in cross business leadership rolesProgram management skill setAbility to work collaboratively with development/implementation staff through the design and build of new business processes and systemsBackground that includes both business and change management experienceIn depth understanding of best-in-class model and data configuration and development processesTravel up to 25% - potential for more during the initial phase of the role.Location:Phoenix, AZ.
