Steward Health Care System is seeking a Director of Decision Support to lead this critical finance function through an important growth phase. As Steward continues its evolution into an Integrated Community Care Organization, the Decision Support team will provide valuable strategic insights and analysis into service line profitability, contract modeling, physician productivity and more. This is a key position in the finance organization and reports to the VP of Financial Planning & Analysis. The position is located in our headquarter office in the Back Bay, but will spend extensive time at our hospital campuses throughout Eastern Massachusetts.

The Decision Support team is integral to the success of Steward. A strong leader is needed to build consensus around reporting standards, gain buy-in from key operations partners, and to enable data-driven decisions throughout the company. The successful candidate may have experience leading Decision Support at another hospital or system, or may have a healthcare consulting background. The position manages a direct central team based in Boston, as well as matrix shared resources at the hospital facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Create gameplan for revitalization and expansion of DSS function throughout Steward Health Care System
Leverage in-depth knowledge of healthcare cost accounting, financial analysis concepts, healthcare revenue cycle management, and overall hospital management to complete the analytical work necessary to make strategic business decisions (for example, service line expansion or joint program development)
Guide standardized cost accounting policies and processes across all Steward hospitals. This includes developing consensus on guidelines for general ledger reclassifications, overhead allocation, and product costing. Also oversee the cost model development and calculations at each facility and create processes to distribute and utilize decision support information across the system in a manner that facilitates effective strategic planning
Lead a team of central DSS analysts as well as create partnerships with on-site resources and leaders at each hospital to drive the adoption of data-driven decision-making
Requirements/Background
10-15 years of progressive finance background, with significant experience in healthcare and decision support
Strong analytical and project management skills
MBA or MPH from top school preferred Full-time Day shift Masters degree is preferred Experience is required
