In partnership with facility CN O, oversees development of facility based ER service line programs. Conducts necessary feasibility studies and develops business plan t and program performance evaluation. In conjunction with facility/market leadership, evaluates services at respective facilities for scope, depth of service, physician manpower, financial feasibility, potential expansion and opportunities to create market synergies and leverage in service overlap.
Ensures twenty-four hour responsibility and accountability for nursing practice, and quality of care and services within assigned departments. Over sees the develops and maintains standards of care of the ER Services patients as set by state, federal and regulatory agencies.
Ensures provision of quality care and services by maintaining appropriate resources, staffing levels, competency of staff, maintenance/ and performance of equipment, physical space, and training and education of staff.
Ensures identification and analyzation of data, identify trends/areas for improvement in processes, structures, and systems impacting ER patients outcomes.
Collaborates with the medical staff and other personnel representatives of allied groups in the planning and coordinator in of the delivery of health care services to patients, such as case management and critical care paths.
Ensures development and implementation of effective, ongoing programs to measure, assess, and improve quality of care. Ensures program meets organizational CMS and risk management standards and accrediting and regulatory requirements. Monitors and evaluate the continuum of ER care from the point of EMS entry to rehabilitation and discharge.
Ensures provision of quality care and services by maintaining appropriate resources, staffing levels, competency of staff, maintenance/ and performance of equipment, physical space, and training and education of staff.
Monitor, evaluate and communicate quality management issues to pre-hospital providers, and participate in quality improvement activities designed to enhance pre-hospital care.
Ensure departments standard of nursing practice, nursing policies and procedures meet JCAHO, legal, and all accrediting and regulatory agency requirements.
Works toward hospital-wide improvement in meeting core measures and quality improvement initiatives. Demonstrates respect to the patient, family and/or significant others.
Performs duties in accordance with departmental policies and procedures, quality assurance programs, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Adheres to regulatory standards such as national patient safety goals with a focus on universal protocols.
Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system and reports trends in occurrences to staff quarterly. This information is used to improve patient safety. Addresses patient safety in the PI Plan.
Ensures staff is educated on established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient's care which results in patient harm.
Educates staff, physicians and ancillary services regarding hospital, divisional and unit specific policies, procedures and standards. Provide consultative services to health care providers, administrators, and health care consumers regarding ER services.
Ensures collaboration with ED Physician Group for developing, reviewing and analyzing services.
Actively supports facility community efforts, and represents the hospital in the community through participation in community organizations, agencies, speaker bureaus etc.

Ensures the development of monthly variance report for ER services. Prepare a quarterly report of variances and outliers, sources of problems, actions taken and effectiveness of resolution.
Participate in conducting and analyzing annual evaluation of the ER service line. Prepare an annual report summarizing all areas identified as problematic/needing improvement with actions taken and status of outcomes.
Optimizes use of supplies, equipment and services, ensuring a high level of clinical care. Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care, or the services delivered.
Educate Staff, physicians, ancillary services regarding disaster/hurricane preparedness and procedures.
Collaborate with unit nursing directors, clinical educators, nurse liaisons, and respecitve personnel to assure effective tracking, monitoring, and evaluation of regulatory compliance.
Provides leadership and demonstrates responsibility and accountability for the delivery of safe, quality, patient care in assigned departments on a 24 hour basis. Plans, directs, coordinates and evaluates the overall clinical nursing practice and administrative activities, including fiscal, material and human resource management. Ensure the selection, retention and assignment of qualified competent staff.
Manages staff performance through regular review, real time feedback, and performance planning. Ensures performance reviews are conducted on time. Actively coaches and mentors staff. Assists unit nursing directors with periodic evaluations of all personnel.
Provides leadership in managing, facilitating and communicating organizational change. Encourages risk taking; fosters a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Assumes accountability and responsibility for orienting new staff to specific job duties with particular focus on safety and infection control. Maintains current knowledge regarding disaster/hurricane preparedness/emergency management.
Assesses effectiveness of services, and supports the expansion or development of services, or innovations that are consistent with hospital vision, mission and values to promote growth in overall volume. Actively participates in ER new construction and rennovation projects.
Demonstrates personal responsibility for professional development. Actively promotes development of self and others through participation in professional organizations, educational opportunities, etc.
Attends in-service presentations, and completes mandatory education week, including but not limited to infection control, patient safety, quality improvement, MSDS, and OSHA standards (PPE, First Aid and Blood-borne pathogens, Hazard communications, Emergency Procedures and Job Safety).
Demonstrates and promotes a positive customer service attitude, which encourages quality patient care and enhances the image/reputation of the facility.

Education: Nursing Diploma or ASN required; BSN preferred.
Experience: Previous experience in an acute care setting strongly preferred.
Licensure: Current Florida State Registered Nurse license
Skills: Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions, PC skills
