TITLE:Director, Environmental Services
LOCATION:Southern California
COMPANY:An independent power producer engaged in the business of owning, leasing, operating and selling energy and capacity from electric power generation facilities.
RELATIONSHIP:This position reports to the Senior Vice President, Operations Support and Chief Procurement Officer.
SPECIFIC
RESPONSIBILITIES:The Director, Environmental Services will be one of the principal environmental leaders, and point-of-contact internally and externally (with local, state, and federal environmental compliance and regulatory agencies) for environmental operations. More specifically, responsibilities will include the following:
Ensure company compliance with environmental standards and ensure their distribution and implementation throughout the company.
Direct the organization in effectively interpreting, assessing, and deploying environmental processes and procedures to meet external regulatory requirements and internal quality expectations.Interface with government investigators and determine corrective actions on enforcement issues.
Develop and manage department budgets and strategic and operating plans.
QUALIFICATIONS:Qualified candidates must have the following:
Five or more years leading large-scale environmental projects or environmental components of large capital projects in a heavily regulated environment, with responsibility for developing and deploying environmental processes, monitoring their effectiveness, managing external relationships with outside regulatory agencies, ensuring compliance in all areas, and ensuring success of the projects.
Five or more years successfully developing plans for and managing large-scale environment initiatives with a capital budget of at least $25 million, operating budget of at least $50 million, and an overall project size of $250 million. Has developed and implemented a metrics system of tracking progress. Has consistent record of completing projects on time.
Proven success in continued cost reduction and improved efficiency. Has implemented significant business process improvements initiatives that have reduced costs by at least five percent per initiative over a two year period for organization or division.
At least five years of experience leading a team of at least 75 people. Has experience leading people in a highly collaborative environment with proven ability to communicate company goals and vision across a broad audience. Has held the number 2 environmental services role in an organization or higher.
Demonstrated ability to effectively lead executives, external stakeholders, and craft personnel on environmental issues including demonstrated success in leading environmental culture change initiatives. Ability to work collaboratively to implement environmental plans and build consensus prior to implementing environmental initiatives.Technical ability to work effectively with a highly technical staff and understand complex environmental/scientific issues.
COMPENSATION:The selected candidate will receive an attractive compensation package, which will be commensurate with experience, and will include a base salary and annual cash bonus.
