Job Description
SUMMARY
Source, identify, negotiate and manage 3rd party relationships with potential and existing Licensors n order to deliver on strategic Fisher Price Global Brand Team long term growth initiatives. Position reports to VP, Licensing Acquisitions and Business Development,, and may be based in either El Segundo, CA or New York City, NY.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
To be proactive role in identification, conversion and management of new entertainment based licensing opportunities; ownership of client/licensor relationships and direct accountability to deliver against brand team objectives with relevant 3rd party licensing opportunities.
Identifies and Manages License Growth Opportunities and License Profitability: Identifies, negotiates and delivers on license growth opportunities which are critical to Fisher Price/Mattelcontinued growth.
Leads cross-functional effort to proactively mine, analyze and develop and present new opportunities and licensor proposals, , which includes the rationale for acquisition or renegotiation of the license agreement.. This includes working regularly with finance, strategic planning, legalroyalty accounting to identify and negotiate license agreements, while recommending solutions to mitigate risk. Also aligns with Brand teams to provide insight and rationale to aid product release plans with key events, strategies or timing challenges.
Effectively identifying and managing licensing opportunities maximizes our product portfolio and supports our product growth plans, while leveraging exposure across brands enables identification of overlooked opportunities. Additionally, finding creative solutions in new or expiring license negotiations helps reduce Mattel financial risks and improve the speed of License Partner agreements.
Effective negotiation results in a more profitable financial position for Mattel throughout the license agreement lifecycle. Streamlining the acquisitions process alleviates impact on cross-functional resources and provides opportunity to further improve the financial impact of our license strategy (e.g. negotiating favorable minimum guarantee and royalty rates).
Approximately 25% to 30% travel , depending on where position is located
Position may be based in either El Segundo, CA or NYC.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Demonstrated mastery of verbal and written communication skills including the ability to cultivate solid internal and external relationships;
' Completed four-year college degree is required
' 9+ years of licensing experience required, including solid negotiation, presentation and industry/category analytic skills
' Experience and exposure to the infant/preschool entertainment landscape is highly preferred
' Prior experience or exposure within a toy, CPG company, broadcast network or studio environment within a mid-to-larger size company is preferred
' Demonstrated experience in market analysis, competitive analysis and strategic thinking
' Ability to work independently, handle multiple projects simultaneously and change direction frequently
' Demonstrated ability to work cross functionally and build partnerships at all levels of an organization
' Outstanding presentation/pitch skills are a must
' Excellent project and time management skills;
' Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
' Must be willing and able to travel up to 30% of the time
