Job Description
Mission : To take a long-term, outside-in perspective to drive marketing and customer innovation and step function change resulting in enhanced marketing impact on the business.
eBay's North America Marketplace's Marketing Strategy team works on projects directly for the CMO in the development of marketing strategy, all aspects of marketing planning and the development of customer and market insights and trends for all marketing-related efforts
Specifically leading the efforts in identifying the customers unmet needs 'the why' to drive future growth by developing an outside in perspective and understanding current and future retail trends 3-5 years out

How is media consumed
What are the triggers marketing can influence
How should marketing be thinking differently to reach these customers
Lead the strategic marketing framework, thought leadership, development of actionable customer insights and competitive customer intelligence to support the business goals and objectives (current and future)
As the Director of Marketing Strategy and Planning, you will work as a leader on multiple projects at a time working closely with the Senior Directors and Directors in Marketing, Corporate Strategy, Finance, Analytics, Business and Product teams to develop and implement recommendations
The candidate must have the leadership skills to quickly command the respect of the product organization, and the business acumen to gain the trust and understanding of eBay's business units
Manage a team comprised of strategic planning, customer lifetime value and marketing operations functions
Skills and Responsibilities:
15+ years of professional work experience and 5+ years of management consulting experience
Strategic thinking and thought leadership with a mindset of innovation, intellectual curiosity and customer insight capability ('design thinker')
Demonstrated track record of developing marketing strategies based on business objectives and executing marketing programs that delivered measurable business results
Will go beyond process to create and foster a 'culture of excellence' within eBay. Be viewed as a transformational change agent within marketing.
An analytical, qualitative and quantitative, detail-oriented mindset is critical for this position
Ability to quickly understand data and turn it into actionable insights and recommendations
Ability to synthesize insights and present findings effectively to drive traction for the work
Oversee the annual marketing planning process working closely with the NA Marketplace's Marketing leadership team
In partnership with the Analytics team, identify recommendations for optimal marketing investment allocation across marketing priorities
Lead the market analysis (digital, mobile, social and local) to identify key customer and market trends
Lead the gathering, identification and sharing of key insights for all customer segments
Conduct formal and ad hoc competitive analysis and report on key findings to Marketing Senior Directors and Directors
Facilitate cross-functional knowledge sharing and application of market trends and insights
Manage the measurement, analysis and reporting of all marketing program performance and its impact on business results
