Director, Microgrid Solutions
Nationwide, USA
KEMA, an international company headquartered in Arnhem, The Netherlands, is a technical leader in the way power is supplied and electricity is used around the world. Our clients include energy utilities, electrical equipment manufacturers and end users of energy.
Location and team
KEMA is seeking a capable and experienced individual to join us as Director of Microgrid Solutions. Our services combine strategic and technical consulting in transmission and distribution, distributed energy resources, storage, electric vehicles, building optimization, system integration, communications, and information security within microgrids. This position may be based out of any KEMA office in the United States.
Tasks may include
Follow through on achieving KEMA's vision as a strategic player in the development of microgrids in the Americas region
Execute the business plan to grow this area of service and meet business development and sales targets
Assume primary responsibility for business development functions, to build relationships with new and existing clients, identify and cultivate consulting opportunities, and secure project opportunities for KEMA
Convene and facilitate clients, stakeholders, and internal teams utilizing a cross-functional team approach
Identify project partners in government, corporate and technology sectors; solidify and leverage partnership relationships
Represent KEMA as a thought leader in the microgrid arena and have a presence at key conferences and events, in the media, and as an industry player
Represent technical aspects of microgrids with sufficient understanding of transmission and distribution, renewable energy integration, electricity storage, electric vehicles, building systems, building automation, networks, communications and security to secure the respect and confidence of potential clients and partners
Actively initiate and contribute to proposal development to secure new opportunities for KEMA
Provide various advisory and consulting services to clients
Coordinate with other KEMA technical teams including demand response, building automation, distributed energy resources, storage, electric vehicles, information security, and others
Manage multiple concurrent projects
Mentor, guide, develop and lead internal team members
Maintain active, contributing relationships with relevant local industry and building groups
Prepare and deliver compelling presentations to senior executive-level clients
Deliver projects to clients on-time and on-budget
What we're asking
10+ years experience in the energy industry required
5+ years experience in a client-facing, business development capacity required
Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or related area. Masters degree preferred
M.B.A. preferred
Demonstrable experience in successfully generating and delivering new business opportunities with external clients; a track record of meeting or exceeding revenue objectives
Demonstrable experience delivering multiple complex projects and solutions to clients on-time and on-budget
Demonstrable, significant knowledge in the areas of transmission and distribution, renewable energy integration, electricity storage, electric vehicles, building systems, building automation, networks, communications and security
A team-oriented approach, with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
Excellent, fluent written and verbal English communication skills.
Willingness to travel up to 50%
This is a U.S.-based position; applicants must be fully authorized to work in the U.S.
