General Description (This is a general description and may not cover all specific responsibilities a manager may have for his/her employees)Responsible for direction and complete product lifecycle ownership of the GetThere product line. Responsibility includes market research, product strategy definition, customer needs analysis, customer experience/usability, pricing, initial value based messaging and overall go-to-market strategy. Director is also responsible for annual product planning/product investment allocation activities.Director of Products is a key ambassador to other internal and external customers. Primary liaison with the development organization to ensure product needs are being properly understood, addressed and delivered in a timely fashion. The face of the product to corporate customers and TMC partners to ensure they understand direction, strategy, plans and value to them. Takes these learnings and delivers them to team members to implement as appropriate.Manages multiple teams that are globally dispersed, including Product Marketing, Customer Experience (UI) and customer focused release/operations management personnel. Career Ladder Position CriteriaExpert knowledge of two or more business unit functions. Knowledge of HR responsibilities, budgeting/financial activities. Develops budget and manages activities of two or more functions, sections, departments and/or projects through subordinate managers. Full HR responsibility for direct and indirect reports. Responsible for mid-range planning for multiple functions and/or projects with a focus on tactical operations over 1 to 3 years. Responsible for results in terms of costs, methods, and employees. Receives general business direction for assigned business unit functions.Decisions have significant and broad impact on multiple departments or projects and have an impact on operating/business unit objectives. Education/ExperienceEDUCATION: Bachelor's degree or equivalent.EXPERIENCE: Minimum 10 years related experience. 8 years prior management experience.B2B product ownership experience required. Highly prefer experience in technical organizations/industries.Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Regularly interacts with senior management or executive levels on matters concerning several functional areas, divisions, and/or customers. Requiresthe ability to change the thinking of, or gain acceptance from, others in sensitive situations, without damage to the relationship.
