Director, Product Solutions Architecture

SUMMARY
The key person to build and lead a small team of architects focused on ensuring excellence in Cox product architectures and consistency with long-term strategic architecture roadmaps.

RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Prepare an end-to-end architecture and design for all product-focused projects, in partnership with Cox Application Development, Network and Engineering, Operations, and PMO groups.
2. Ensure all product architectures and designs are in alignment with the Cox Strategic Architecture roadmaps
3. Create the initial concept architecture for product-focused projects based on high-level business requirements
4. Build, lead, and manage a small team of principal and senior architects focused on the architecture and design of product projects for Cox
5. Drive the technical evolution of the Cox product portfolio towards defined strategic technology roadmaps.
6. Collaborate with other engineering groups, working on architecture and the creation of and implementation of detailed technical designs
7. Assist as requested with the resolution of architectural concerns or issues that arise during the implementation of a project
8. Communicate the status of all projects to technical and non-technical personnel
9. Work with other corporate departments (Product Development, Strategy, Marketing, Field Systems) on various projects simultaneously
10. Lead from the front inspiring those around you and continuously looking to train and develop talent within the organization

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
1. Requires BS/BA in related discipline (i.e., Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering) or related field
2. 10+ years experience in Software or Systems Engineering
3. 3+ years managing direct reports
4. Experience working in a dynamic, consumer driven, new media organization where emphasis is on consumer-centric application development
5. Extensive experience of defining complex requirements for a large new media and services engineering organization
6. Hands on experience managing highly distributed, scalable systems architectures with software development responsibilities
7. Demonstrated familiarity with core media industry technologies including baseband and IP media transport, video compression, broadcast signal processing, video and IP routing and switching, image acquisition and digital image manipulation, and nonlinear production systems
8. Self-directed ability to identify and attack challenging problems
9. Strong level of comforting working as both an individual contributor and a leader of a small-sized team of very senior technical personnel
10. Promotes knowledge sharing, internal debate and cross functional collaboration
11. Demonstrable ability to network both formally and informally at all levels of the business using influence to achieve goals and encourage collaboration
12. Able to manage the growth of a small but highly qualified team of architects using influence to leverage support within a matrix organization
13. Able to assimilate and process information quickly making decisions or recommendations in short or even real time frames
14. Strong communication skills able to distill complex messages into clear and concise statements to be easily understood at all levels
15. Able to deal with ambiguity in a fluid working environment with high degrees of organizational complexity
16. Experience managing SOWs and deliverables from consultants and other staff augmentation resources
17. Ability to travel as needed: up to 20% anticipated

Preferred
1. Recognized as having delivered an industry leading product or platform architecture
2. Experience with digital media systems development and architecture, especially video products targeted at service providers
3. Experience with cross-platform applications development and architecture targeted at the service provider industry
4. Experience with development and architecture of web-based applications
