JOB SUMMARY



Director of Sales - Safety, will be responsible for safety sales throughout the entire region and will require about 50% overnight travel.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



Achieve sales and profit goals for safety products.



Helps manage selected national accounts.



Five or more years record of sales success in safety market, and sales growth.



Management experience.



Manage all Safety Specialists in Region.



Direct involvement in the hiring of new Safety Specialist in Region, as well as termination.



Ability to train, develop, and motivate people.



Good people skills and work ethic.



Basic knowledge of the welding distribution business, with willingness to learn.



Establish and maintain close working relationship with manufacturers.



Strong knowledge of all major products and vendors. Identify and develop new business as well as grow our current customer base.



Self-motivation, able to identify all cross-sell opportunities, within the region.



Ability to work with branch stores and outside sales in local markets to grow safety sales.



Responsible for safety inventory and inventory turns at branch level.



Strong relationships with regional representatives.



Organization and time management skills.



Listening and communication skills.



Normal activity reporting required.



Computer competency



QUALIFICAITONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE



Some college and/or equivalent experience through a sales training background, seminar-training sessions, and basic knowledge of the welding distribution and manufacturing industries.



Five or more years record of sales success in safety market and sales growth, and a strong knowledge of all major products and vendors.



Management experience, in addition to organizational and time management skills.



Must be computer literate.



LANGUAGE SKILLS



Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.



Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.



Ability to effectively present information to groups of associates, top management and customer in either oral or written form.



MATHEMATICAL SKILLS



Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.



Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.



REASONINING ABILITY



Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.



Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
