Director of Sales & Marketing is responsible for: short and long term planning and day-to-day operations of the group and catering; assists General Manager in preparation of the marketing, advertising, sales plans, programs and annual budget; manages within approved plans and budgets; daily operations, training, and directing of the sales staff. Requirements include: advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the salesmarketinghospitality profession.

Director of Sales - Marriott Portland City Center

We are seeking a strong, relationship-focused personality to lead our sales effort in the heart of downtown Portland. We take pride in our diverse city and always take care of our guests.

The Director of Sales will report to the General Manager and manages six (6) reports (Sales Managers, Catering & Conference services, Rooms Controller and Administrative Assistant). Everyone chips in at our hotel, and this person will be visible to all. We are a small hotel in scope but with 249 rooms. We are two blocks from Pioneer Square and close to the light rail.

Experience:

2+ years as DOS within full-service hotel or property required.

Ideal candidate has DOS experience and Sales experience in a Marriott Branded property within the local market.

Food & Beverage experience highly preferred and almost required!

Experience booking weekend business (group) is crucial.

Must be proactive, seek people out, build internal and external relationships well, be visible, be hands-on, and become the face of the sales team.

Must possess a proven track record of success in achieving revenue objectives

Proven ability to recruit, motivate and train sales team.

Superior written and oral communication skills and must reflect strong business acumen.

Delphi experience is also desired.

Four-year college degree highly preferred.
