THE ROLE IN BRIEF:
The Director/Senior Director, Strategy will work closely with client members to improve and assist in development of strategic direction for their organization. In particular, this individual will assist in leading engagements that help clients identify strategic priorities, improve financial and market performance, rationalize services, and meet the many challenges that health care reform gives them. The Director will report to the Executive Vice President, Advisory Board Consulting and Management.

Our current opportunity is on our Nashville, TN-based Strategy team. Preferable locations for candidates are Chicago, Nashville, and Washington, DC.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead consulting teams to accurately diagnose the issues the client has identified (as well as underlying issues), and determine the appropriate solutions that will lead the client to create strategic direction
- Build consensus among client stakeholders who play a critical role in the clients ability to successfully implement the identified solutions
- Effectively and appropriately apply both deductive and inductive thinking
- Develop presentation and report deliverables with limited supervision
- Provide subject matter expertise to other Advisory Board Consulting and Management and Advisory Board Company business units as it relates to strategic planning
- Provide support to other Advisory Board Consulting and Management and Advisory Board Company business units when strategy expertise is required in dealing with client issues
- Provide subject matter expert input to Advisory Board Company research as needed
- Communicate effectively and accurately in writing and verbally to prospects, clients, and other staff
- Manage engagement deliverables to established budget
- Demonstrate strong relationship management skills and ability to handle challenging interpersonal situations
- Support Business Development and Marketing efforts

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor s Degree
- 5+ years of professional experience preferably in Health Care
- Previous consulting firm experience including project management, developing and presenting deliverables, and analytics
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite Word, PowerPoint, Excel
- Familiar with variety of problem solving approaches
- Client relationship management experience
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to drill down to the root cause of issues and be creative in problem solving
- Proven written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to travel domestically

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate level degree in business or healthcare
- Background in healthcare consulting
- Experience managing projects that achieved budget and timeline goals
- Possess analytical reasoning and solution-focus problem solving
- Ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams
- Experience mentoring junior level staff
