Director, Surgical Services

This position is responsible for the operations of Surgical Services with 24-hour accountability. Also responsible for coordinating the efforts of staff with overall responsibility for the clinical and financial performance.

This individual will often coordinate his/her work to meet the ever-changing needs of the department/hospital. He/she has expressed authority to carry out the duties as defined in the job description.

Day-to-day responsibilities require good use of judgment regarding timely and appropriate communication with the hospital staff. Recognizes the need for teamwork and functions as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Works under limited supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS:
BA/BS degree required, graduate degree preferred.
Current Illinois RN license required.
Professional certification required - ACLS.
Mininum 5 years experience Surgical Services required.
Previous leadership experience in Surgery at a Director or Manager level required.
Strong leadership, team development and business management skills.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to use machines, tools, equipment and work aids as necessary to perform job duties.
