JOB DESCRIPTION

Description:
This position will support the NAVAR DTRA CB Strategic
Communications Contract. The office is in Manassas, VA
but there will be frequent (reimbursed if appropriate
conditions are met) travel to client site at Fort
Belvoir, VA.
The Communications Directors will provide a broad range
of communications and public affairs support to the
organization. The position reports to the Project
Manager.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Produce and coordinate communication projects, with
clients' direction, for the development and production
of awareness materials, website/social media production
and other communication initiatives
Provide and produce products for all internal and
external communications including writing and editing
website/social media content, newsletter submissions,
video scripts, senior leader presentations, news
articles and others as directed by the client or project
manager
Senior editor and author for the client's monthly
technical internal journal focusing on
chemical/biological defense program within the
Department of Defense
Produce written policies and directives in support of
communications
Research potential communication avenues that will
support client objectives
Review and edit communications materials for marketing
effectiveness, cross-selling implications and adhere to
brand guidelines and appropriate writing and style
guides
Manage advertisements for DTRA CB to include contacting
and scheduling advertisements with target markets while
strictly adhering to a set budget
Assist in developing an awareness campaign to inform
DTRA CB stakeholders and produce engagement
opportunities
Assist DTRA CB and DTRA Public Affairs with media
engagement such as organizing media engagement,
producing press releases and coordinating media coverage
Work collaboratively with a diverse staff team to create
stellar products and manage communication outreach
strategies
Provide counsel to DTRA CB in regards to communications
and public affairs projects
Ability to work under deadline pressure, handle stress
and deliver professional results
Other duties as assigned
Produce reports on tasks as required
Requirements:
Ability to maintain a Secret Clearance
Requires excellent written and verbal communication
skills and ability to write daily
Master editor with expert knowledge of military and AP
Style Guide
Ability to effectively and flexibly work under tight
deadlines
Resourcefulness in solving problems
Candidate must be able to think both strategically and
tactically to achieve client goals
Must be a quick thinker with exceptionally agile work
style
Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment -
current workforce is exceptionally collaborative on
projects
Strong organization skills and keen attention to detail
Strong computer skills in all MS Office Software
Superior professionalism and judgement
Self-motivated with minimal oversight
Professional experience with policy-level OSD
organizations
Established relationships with DoD Press Corps, D.C.
Think Tanks, formal and informal decision makers inside
the beltway
First-hand knowledge of DTRA or Intelligence Agencies
Education
Bachelor's degree in journalism, marketing, business or
communications
7+ years of experience in communications or public
relations
Special Job Facts
Long hours and weekends may be required to meet
deliverables
Some bonus travel may be required
Must have authorization to work in the United States as
defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
