POSITION INFORMATION

Under the leadership of the Associate Vice Chancellor for University Development and directly reporting to the Director of Development for Campus-Wide Initiatives, the Director of Development, Student Success will be a front-line fundraiser responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of comprehensive fundraising programs that will generate private support for campus-wide initiatives. This position's initial focus will be to raise private support for student success, scholarships, fellowships, and programs/areas that enhance the overall student experience at UC Riverside (UCR). This is a two year, renewable contract position which includes the same employee benefits afforded career employees. Requires travel to multiple work sites, including meetings and events on and off campus and within the greater Los Angeles area. Occasional domestic and international travel may be required, as well as nontraditional work hours to accommodate evening and/or weekends that coincide with events and meetings.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Good written and interpersonal communication skills to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the campus and/or medical center and with external constituencies.
Ability to work effectively with deans and directors, academic and University leaders and volunteers to achieve fundraising goals.
Skill to maintain confidentiality.
Good organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills.
Working knowledge of fundraising, donor relations and public relations concepts, principles, procedures and techniques.
Strong sense of ethical conduct that will inspire confidence and motivation with the proven ability to persuade colleagues and prospects.
Experience with exporting/importing data from or to different software applications; and operating knowledge of Internet for data gathering purposes.
Demonstrated success at meeting predetermined goals and objectives through effective program/project planning, organization, execution and evaluation.
Advanced oral and interpersonal communication skills, with an emphasis on tact, diplomacy, flexibility, professionalism and discretion in order to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the organization and with outside constituencies. Advanced skill in making persuasive and compelling presentations of campus goals/objectives and securing gifts.
Proven success at fundraising by developing and implementing strategic plans that incorporate a concise definition of goals, targeted audiences, and strategies in-line with institution goals and closing gifts ($25,000+) from individuals, corporations, and foundations, both local and national.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Working knowledge of the campus and/or medical center, its vision, mission, goals, objectives, achievements and infrastructure.

Working knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, et cetera.

Ability to work effectively with student organizations parent programs and faculty.

General knowledge of various types of charitable gifts, including in kind gifts, gifts of securities planned giving vehicles and gifts of real property.

Experience using Raiser's Edge or other CRM databases.

Experience supporting capital or comprehensive campaigns in higher education.
