POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Freestanding Emergency Department (FSED) Operations assumes 24-hour responsibility and accountability for total care in the areas at the FSED.
The position requires knowledge and skill of professional nursing theory and practice, leadership in administration, principles of effective teaching and learning, fiscal management, and effective interpersonal relationships and communication.
The Service Director assumes responsibility to ensure best outcomes result in safe, high quality compassionate patient family centered care.
The Director assists and works collaboratively with the ED leadership team across the entire hospital Emergency Services line in the implementation of Performance Improvement activities, hospital policies/procedures, and in the financial management of the Free Standing Emergency Center. Additional functions and roles include: Achieving Operational Metrics (Patient Satisfaction, Employee Satisfaction, Productivity, and Quality), Physician and EMS Relations (Medical Director and Physician Leaders), Marketing, Communications/PR, and Community Outreach (Marketing), Cost Containment (Supply Chain) and Facility Development.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Bachelor of Science in Nursing required
Master s degree in Nursing or related field required
License to practice as a RN in the State of Texas
BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification
TNCC certification within 6 months of hire
Nationally Specialty Certification preferred in a related area (CEN,
CPEN, CCRN, NEA-BC) or within 6 months of hire
7-10 years progressive nursing experience preferred; 3-5 years emergency
nursing experience required
Maintains clinical and leadership competencies
Previous management/leadership experience, or demonstrated ability to serve
in a leadership position
Participates in professional organizations
