The ARC/OSRF Director of Finance and Administration (DFA) is responsible for providing daily comprehensive oversight of the financial and administrative functions of unit, primarily in the areas of business operations and finance. The DFA develops and executes the unit's strategic plan and plays a key role in implementing relevant policies and guidelines and development of new programs. The DFA directs and monitors the work of staff in the business/finance team ensuring timeliness and accuracy of duties. The DFA plans, develops and manages budgets including multi-year budget forecasts. Oversees and reviews the approval and reporting of expenditures and coordinates the development of contracts with vendors, service providers and other institutions. The DFA ensures the successful delivery of services and optimal utilization of resources. Work with individual facility Faculty Advisors and Technical Directors to ensure that core facilities serve as sources of high quality service comprised of state-of-the-art scientific technology and expertise. Provide guidance to facility Technical Directors in design of operational teams, personnel selection and development and general HR management. The DFA interacts and coordinates reporting and presentations to individuals outside the unit. The DFA participates in the unit's development and strategic planning, provides for unit budget development and justification, and prepares annual operational reports to Associate Dean for Research Resources and collaborates closely with all staff within the unit and others in the BSD.
