Key Responsibilities

The Director of Merchandising is responsible for the development and execution of a merchandising strategy that maximizes the productivity and efficiency of the merchandising team in Western Washington.

Annually sets and delivers against approved efficiency and financial budgets for FTE, CPH, and OT.

Manage supervisors and the merchandising team to ensure that procedures are followed and company quality standards and efficiency metrics are met.

Manage Merchandising Manager - responsible for FTE forecasting, seasonal labor, and recruitment as well as on boarding of new hires, management of the performance system, and quality control measures through the use of the MVP.

Meet annual safety budget through safety training and awareness.

Maintain productive and open communication with the ELT, channel directors/sales teams, and operations.

Monitor service levels provided to customers. Suggest and/or evaluate requests for service level adjustments.

Meet inventory expense budget reduction for OOC and Merch Damage.

Annually review and makes recommendations to the ELT for improvement of the Company's policies, procedures and practices as it relates to merchandising compensation and incentives, training, and department structure.

Adhere to all state liquor laws and regulations.

Plan and Prepare

The Director of Merchandising develops and implements new and revised merchandising strategies, policies and procedures in order to be responsive to the company's current and future goals.

Maintain an understanding of competitive merchandising and operational strategies.

This position is responsible for planning and budgeting merchandising resources to maximize efficiencies.

This position is responsible for preparing monthly productivity and financial reviews to be presented to the EVP.

Execute

Execute merchandising strategy designed to maximize department productivity and efficiency.

Recruit, supervise and evaluate all department staff.

Provide overall prioritization of work assignments and management of team resources, and their activities.

Measure and Improve

Monitors the effectiveness of existing merchandising strategies through FTE, CPH, and OT improvement.

Recommends strategy revisions as well as new plans that are cost effective and consistent with trends and corporate objectives; provides guidance and coordinates implementation.

Responsible for analyzing and directing all functional related activities within the scope of the Merchandising department.

This position manages all merchandising supervisors in Western Washington and the Quality Control Manager and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within those functions.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. This job also operates with direct contact to sales teams and customers in the field.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk and sit and is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree or equivalent

4 to 8 years sales and/or merchandising or related field experience and 4+ years of management experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge of direct store delivery (DSD) systems/routing.

Effective organizational and interpersonal skills including written and verbal communication skills.

Thorough knowledge of MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Preferred Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree.
