West Hills Hospital is a 95-bed acute care inpatient
psychiatric hospital located in Reno, Nevada,
specializing in behavioral healthcare and substance
abuse treatment options for children, adolescents,
adults and seniors. Our facility maintains a full-time
medical staff of psychiatrists to oversee programs,
patients and care. This ensures you or your loved one
will always be in the hands of a professional medical
service provider and will receive the most evidence
based care available. West Hills Hospital is JCAHO
accredited and is the only facility licensed in northern
Nevada to treat children and adolescents.
Job Description:
1. Director of Nursing assumes administrative
responsibility for the Nursing Department on a 24 hour
2. Provides support and continuity of effective
administrative leadership. Maintains the overall
hospital functioning in the absence of the
administrative officer.
3. Serves as a resource person and role model by
demonstrating professionalism and the ability to use the
nursing process in problem identification and problem
activities. Assists and encourages Nursing personnel in
professional growth and development.
4. Maintains continuity of departmental and hospital
Policies and Procedures and fosters communications among
all departments.
5. This position assists in contributing to the hospital
philosophy, objectives, educational and performance
improvement efforts, while providing supervision to the
Nursing staff.
6. Ensuring the facility s Nursing programs are in
compliance with all regulatory agencies, Joint
Commission, and state and federal agencies.
* Graduate from an accredited program of professional
nursing required; Bachelor s Degree in Nursing or
related field required. Masters Degree preferred.
* A minimum of three (3) years experience as a
registered nurse and a minimum of three (3) years
experience in a psychiatric health-care facility.
* Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse with the
Nevada State Board of Nursing. Must have a valid
driver s license. Certification as a Psychiatric and
Mental Health Nurse preferred.
* Knowledge of JCAHO, HCFA, OSHA and Patient Rights
standards, and any other applicable federal and
state laws and regulations governing mental health
care facilities. Infection Control certification,
optional. CPR and Handle with Care training required
within first 90 days
