addictive disease hospital for adults and adolescents.

Saint Simons By-The-Sea's staff has extensive experience
in the fields of addiction treatment, recovery, relapse
prevention and mental health treatment.
SSBTS is seeking an experienced Director of Nursing.
The Director of Nursing is responsible for the
development, organization, provision, and evaluation of
all nursing functions within the facility with 24/7
responsibility for those functions. He/she utilizes
sound patient care standards and recognized nursing
standards of practice in the development and
implementation of policies, procedures, and models of
nursing care. Leadership is provided with consideration
of the organization as a whole; promoting an atmosphere
of respect and encouragement for professional growth for
all nursing staff members. The Director of Nursing
collaborates with other facility leaders on all matters
relevant to the delivery of quality patient care
services and continually assesses the utilization of the
collaborative process among the nursing staff at all
levels and other disciplines/departments to ensure
organized, comprehensive, efficient, and effective
patient care. Ensures the nursing care meets all of the
State and Federal regulations and meets the Joint
Commission standards too.
Directly supervises more than 30 employees. This
Director carries out supervisory responsibilities in
accordance with the organization s policies and
applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing,
hiring, and training employees; planning assigning, and
directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and
disciplining employees; addressing complaints and
resolving problems. This position oversees the nursing
education program, and infection control.

Develops and assures implementation of nursing care
standards and policies and procedures in accordance with
Nurse Practice Act.
Participates in activities related to hospital
organizational planning, goal setting and policy
development, and interprets hospital policies and
Establishes nursing services goals and objectives that
are consistent with overall hospital specific program
goals and objectives.
Collaborates with the Director of Clinical Services to
develop program specific objectives and ensures policies
are consistent with each program s philosophy and needs.
Is available and accessible to nursing staff for
consultation as needed.
Develops and reviews a written organizational plan for
nursing services annually in consultation with the
Medical Staff and hospital administration.
Establishes and maintains a written plan for service,
which describes the nature and organization of clinical
groups within the hospital.
Establishes generic nursing standards of care and
practice for the hospital.
Assists Director of Clinical Services in developing
standards of care that are specific to the units.
Documents standards of care and standards of practice as
part of the written organizational for nursing services.
Develops nursing policies and procedures that reflect
the written standards and reviews them annually.
Works cooperatively with the administrative team and
provides clinical leadership to the facility.
Assists in developing department budget.
Responsible for maintaining department within budget.
Provides input into the development of other clinical

Takes action to resolve problems or improve care as

Holds monthly meetings with staff to review the quality
of nursing care delivered, review procedural changes,
and maintain communication.
Regularly meets with nursing leadership to review
quality of nursing care delivered, review procedural
changes and maintain communication.
Develops annual staff development plan for nursing
department, reviews it annually, and provides written

psychosocial needs; and establishes frequency of

RN licensed in state of Georgia. BSN required. Master s
degree in Nursing with psychiatric emphasis preferred.
If DON does not have an advanced degree in nursing or a
related field, he/she must have routine
supervision/consultation with an RN with an MSN in
psychiatric/mental health nursing. Minimum of 5 years of
progressive supervisory experience required.
