Bicycle sharing is a convenient, flexible, healthy and fun transportation option that enhances urban livability and mobility. Bay Area Motivate (BAM) is headquartered in San Francisco and operates Bay Area Bike Share. BAM is responsible for every aspect of the Bay Area Bike Share program, from repairing and rebalancing bikes, to maintaining the stations and docking points, to marketing the program and educating people about bike share. Bay Area Bicycle Share is undertaking a major expansion, growing from 700 bicycles to 7,000 bicycles by 2018 in the cities of San Francisco, San Jose, Berkeley, Oakland, and Emeryville.

Bay Area Bike Share is seeking a visionary and collaborative Director of Operations Strategy to lead the Operations team in delivering a world-class bicycle sharing system for customers. You are a skilled project manager with an entrepreneurial spirit and a knack for bringing the best out of people. You are data-driven, and you have experience turning analysis into action by designing solutions based on best practices, adapted for unique operating environments. Position reports directly to the General Manager.

KEY ASPECTS OF POSITION:

Assist in the management of all aspects of system operations.
*

Relentlessly assess and improve how Bay Area Bike Share delivers available bikes and docks and a world leading customer experience
*

Lead operational change initiatives, particularly those focused on Service Delivery / Rebalancing and Field Maintenance.
*

Collaborate closely with Bay Area operational department leads to design and implement change initiatives.
*

Establish a positive two-way communication with Bay Area field staff, sourcing feedback and fresh ideas from staff and sharing initiative plans and objectives with the field operations team.
*

Collaborate with operational leads in other Motivate markets to incorporate and further develop best practices in the Bay Area.
*

Conduct analysis to make operational recommendations. Pilot operational initiatives. Report and assess effectiveness of these initiatives.
*

Ensure standard operating procedures are created and disseminated across Bay Area markets.
*

Ensure sound operational data reporting, including input / output, and automation.
*

Monitor and manage to key operational metrics.
*

Support implementation of requisition, work order, and reporting tools
*

Work with technology vendors to implement product changes that can improve operational performance.
*

Source and manage sub-contractors as required.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

*

Undergraduate / graduatedegree in business, design, operations, engineering, or related field.
*

High proficiency with data analysis tools such as Tableau, Excel, and/or Access
*

Excellent communication skills, including oral communication and visual presentation creation
*

Organized thinker, with the ability to self-direct and to adapt to changing deadlines
*

Comfortable in a high-pressure, high-visibility, start-up environment.
*

Knowledge of San Francisco Bay Area geography/street layout.
*

Passion for bikes, efficiency and sustainability.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

*

Minimum 5 years of customer focused operations background, including proven experience managing large field or logistics operations.
*

Supply chain experience.
*

Proven technical and mechanical aptitude and innovation.
*

Comfort using data management software such as Domo.
*

Experience with warehouse operations.
