Columbia Universitys department of University Event Management is the center of event planning and related services for undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty, staff and alumni. It is our goal to provide excellent facilities and exceptional service for all events, programs and activities for the Columbia community. We are a customer-focused organization with an immediate opening for a Director of Operations to oversee the day to day operations of all departments in University Event Management (UEM). UEM is compromised of two self-operated food & beverage businesses (Columbia University Catering and Faculty House), Audio Visual Services, Sales & Marketing, and Student Events. This position reports directly to the Assistant Vice President of University Event Management and works closely with the four senior Officers in UEM; Executive Chef; General Manager, Faculty House; General Manager, Columbia Catering & Conference Services; Assistant Director, Technical Services. The incumbent will also provide high-level analytic support for UEMs ongoing operations and projects. Examples of ongoing duties include: review of all labor schedules, liaison to kitchen sanitation consultant, analysis of monthly financial and operational variance reports, and the creation and maintenance of a departmental calendar of projects and deliverables. Special projects may include weekly Cost of Goods tracking, weekly revenue tracking, expense analysis, monthly departmental P&Ls, etc. We offer a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package, which includes tuition exemption, 23 days vacation, and 14 holidays.
