JOB DESCRIPTIONAPPLY DEFINITION: Under general direction of the VP of Procedural Services The Director serves as a client liaison and is responsible for the full spectrum of preoperative, intraoperative (surgical services), and postoperative care. Typically includes all surgery prep units, operating rooms, postanesthesia care units (PACU) and/or telemetry units; responsible for planning, organizing, staffing, budgeting, and directing the accomplishments of Fremont Rideout's operating room's service objectives.
KNOWLEDGE: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required. A Master's degree in nursing, or business or health administration is preferred. Knowledge of: Current principles, techniques, and procedures of nursing care for patients requiring surgical intervention. Knowledge of Joint Commission, federal and state regulations related to operating/perioperative nursing services; Possesses an exceptional understanding of operating room processes, patient flow, coordination of care to the surgical patient, and physician relationships
SKILLS: Excellent leadership and/or managerial skills. Demonstrates exceptional verbal and written communication skills Ability to clearly and effectively communicate verbally and in writing with staff and the public; Plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and review the activities of operating room/perioperative nursing services, Supervise, instruct, motivate, monitor, train, and evaluate professional and nonprofessional employees
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 5 years' experience in managing perioperative areas; Experience managing operating room/perioperative nursing services in a hospital strongly preferred. 5-10 years of experience in an acute care hospital setting is required.
LICENSE: Valid CA RN License is required, CNOR certification is highly preferred
BLS certification is required
