Essential FunctionLead, manage, mentor and support Project Management Team (includes Regulatory Staff) to ensure that the Los Angeles Early Phase Clinical Unit delivers quality projects to its clients and achieves/exceeds client expectations and other project metrics (timelines, quality, profitability, etc.). Provide project management expertise to project management team. Key Accountabilities Provide management, leadership, mentoring and support to the Project Management team; ensure team is compliant with SOPs and required training Harmonize project management practices within the Los Angeles Early Phase Clinical Unit; review tools to ensure effective use; monitor practices and tools to identify areas for improvement Support Project Management team to ensure project achieves or exceeds contracted quality and milestones delivery Contribute to SOP development for Los Angeles Early Phase Clinical Unit. Establish and maintain excellent client focus and service-oriented mentality within Project Management team Participate in business development meetings as needed Participate in Los Angeles management meetings and provide local update to be shared with network as needed Recruit and retain appropriate staff in order to meet resourcing needs with Unit Director approval Contribute to monthly forecast reports as needed Work with Clinical Operations management to ensure appropriate quality checks are performed on projects, as well as training of Project Staff. Continue to build an expert database for specialized needs for current and future studies Contribute to the finalization of the contracts between sponsor and PAREXEL when needed Work with colleagues in Clinical Operations, Business Development and Enrollment to determine the feasibility of projects regarding available medical/scientific experts and patient population. Oversee all documents for submission to IRB Review overall clinical study performance (status report) on all projects and provide feedback on quality issues to appropriate managers Oversee department budget; work with Project Managers to oversee all contracted staff on projects Ensure appropriate transition of projects regarding change in Project Manager Undertake the full range of duties relevant to the leadership, management and development of the team to ensure their performance meets and /or exceeds both the business and their own personal goals/objectives Maintain a positive, results oriented work environment, building partnerships and modeling teamwork, communicating to the team in an open, balanced and objective manner Participate in formal staff review processes e.g. performance and salary reviews to corporate standards and timescales.QualificationsSkills Ability to represent PAREXEL to clients in a positive and professional manner, demonstrating clinical research knowledge Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to develop cross-functional support Team player with excellent interpersonal, negotiation, organizational and verbal and written communication skills; experience in delivering presentations at client meetings, training sessions, etc. Client focused approach to work; excellent stakeholder/relationship management skills Excellent people management skills; able to role model behaviors and ethics A flexible attitude with respect to work assignments and new learning Ability to manage multiple and varied tasks with enthusiasm and prioritize workload with attention to detail Willingness to work in a matrix environment and to value the importance of teamwork.
