Summary:

As Director of Strategy, you will develop and lead the agency's strategic practice, collaborating closely with the Group Creative Director and reporting directly to the Managing Director. In this challenging role, you direct all aspects of strategy and are responsible for client guidance and overall work quality. You will help build the overall healthcare strategy practice and grow awareness of the the Serum agency brand as an outward-facing thought leader and content creator.

You will create and maintain senior-level relationships with both existing and potential clients, developing strategic solutions that best fit the clients needs. Within Serum, the DSS is a co-leader for our new business and client integration efforts. Youll help create powerful communications strategies for clients through your research and in-depth knowledge of the organizational process, competitive threats and opportunities of a clients business. Youll collaborate with teams in analytics and targeting and digital innovation to develop strategies across the customer journey. You will also interact with outside PR consultants, media partners and other potential agency partners.





Responsibilities:



Serve as the voice of the customer and uncover powerful insights that serve as the strategic foundation of the agencys work.

Develop departmental vision, structure, and management while providing leadership, accountability and mentorship to brand strategy

Inspire creative teams with insightful creative briefs and the results of your strategic planning efforts

Collaborate with client business leaders and department leads to prepare marketing recommendations, strategies and actions

Review, analyze and evaluate media output, creative output, research reports and client data

Create sound and responsible marketing counsel and plans

Communicate at innovator and influencer levels

Develop, in collaboration with the agency team, innovative or differentiating products and services

Be the agencys lead strategic evangelist, embodying Serums core values and differentiating value proposition

Develop thought leadership perspectives, and write papers and blog posts that contribute to the intellectual capital of the agency

Represent the agency at conferences, events and symposiums

Provide market research, analyses and insights into latest industry trends

Lead and manage new business presentations

Grow and develop existing client accounts

Build and manage department staff across all strategy efforts and projects

Design, execute and manage research

Manage measurement, analytics, data gathering, and reporting for clients and agency

Provide strategic branding thought leadership and expertise to expand business relationships

Train and develop staff (direct reports), and influence cross-functional internal partners to create and execute effective research, analysis and strategy

Actively participate in client presentations

Help lead research initiatives and manage outside consultants

Seek new opportunities to add value to existing clients





Requirements:



Minimum of 10-15 years experience brand/marketing/communications strategy experience in integrated, CRM and digital communications

Track record of building client relationships and expanding business

Must be a strategic provocateur, intellectually curious and questioning

Must enjoy telling and selling a story, with exceptional presentation and writing skills

Experience in pharmaceuticals, biotech, health insurance, health technology, and/or medical devices

Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills

Experience managing and mentoring people with high integrity

Experience navigating large and complex organizations, including gaining access to key executives and stakeholders and successfully managing relationship building dynamics and processes

Able to manage multiple business initiatives in an entrepreneurial environment

Expert knowledge of all functional agency departments, capabilities and service areas

A deep understanding of a wide range of industries, markets and brands, and what it takes to stand out and service them
