Job Description

Henry Ford Medical Group in Detroit, MI has a new position opportunity for the candidate who is looking to move up in their career to direct all medical billing functions for a large medical group. This position will be the main driver for the implementation of the EPIC system that will begin to be implemented in 2012. We are looking for a true Executive Coding professional who understands the science of coding and can take us to the next level! This position will implement a whole new system and indirectly manage 100+ employees within the coding and capture business unit of the Henry Ford Medical Group. Applicants should feel comfortable and have the ability to interact with top leadership in the executive suite. ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW: The Henry Ford Medical Group is the largest business unit within the Henry Ford Health System. Our system spans Southeast Michigan. Henry Ford Health System is a $4.2 billion organization30K employees with a national reputation. The Medical Group is comprised of the Henry Ford Hospital in downtown Detroit, the Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital, and 32 medical centers in Southeast Michigan. Henry Ford Hospital is a level 1 trauma center, research hospital, and teaching hospital. It is a 950 bed hospital with very specialized ICUs, general practice units, and specialty units. It is one of two hospitals in Michigan that performs heart transplants. The West Bloomfield Hospital is a level II center. The Henry Ford medical centers are comprised of small, medium, and large centers that offer a variety of product lines, lab services, radiology, pharmacies, physical therapy, and behavior health. Our Centers of Excellence include the Heart amp; Vascular Institute, Josephine Ford Cancer Center, the Neuroscience Institute, the Henry Ford Transplant Institute, Womens Health Services, and the Vattikuti Urology Institute. The Henry Ford Health System is prototyped on the Mayo Clinic model. POSITION OVERVIEW: -Key member of leadership team responsible for documentation, coding and charge capture for Henry Ford Medical Group (HFMG) and expected to understand and support linkages across the entire network. -Administratively responsible for Professional Fee Audit and Physician Education Departments which facilitate effective coding and charge capture for professional services rendered to inpatients and other bedded patients, and for revenue managers and specialty associates engaged in coding and charge capture related to professional services rendered to outpatients in Henry Ford Medical Group clinics. -Directing all activities of the Professional Fee Audit Department for inpatient professional billing for HFMG. -Directing all activities associated with ambulatory billing practices across HFMG. -Directly responsible for 100+ FTEs. -Directly responsible for coding and charge capture of over $400 million annual net revenue for the Henry Ford Medical Group. -Redesigning and successfully implementing a newly constructed centralized revenue cycle and coding infrastructure for HFMG. -Accountable for coding, denials management, coder performance, audit and compliance goals to achieve overall revenue integrity for HFMG. -This position is instrumental in facilitating performance improvement activities that are estimate to yield benefits of approximately $10 million over a five year period. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: -Prepares work plans to achieve revenue cycle financial performance improvement targets and executes work plan content to achieve stated results. -Designs, implement and maintain revenue cycle outcomes indicator scorecards, metrics, benchmarking, and other related business intelligence in revenue cycle performance. -Meets compliance requirements and implements all necessary regulatory updates, such as ICD-10 implementation, 5010 implementation and annual coding updates. -Key leader for the development and implementation of revenue cycle IT upgradesreleases (such as EPIC), decisions related to re
