Responsibilities

GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT

The per diem writer / editor will be responsible for independent writing and editing of research papers and grant proposals. The writer/ editor will focus on projects relating to clinical decision support and clinical information systems, preparing manuscripts based on existing data, revising existing manuscripts, responding to revision requests from journals and organizing and preparing grant applications for funding agencies. Thewriter / editors responsibilities will also include administrative and other research duties as assigned.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Write manuscripts from existing data with a high degree of independence.

Critically revise and edit existing manuscripts.

Respond to reviews from journals and editors.

Prepare grant applications.

Perform literature searches and syntheses: performs general topic searches and specialized database searches.

Prepare presentations for national conferences.

May present findings at departmental meeting.

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Masters Degree required

The ideal candidate will have extremely strong writing skills and experience with scientific, technical or medical writing (from a previous work experience, academic experience, journal publication, and/or thesis).

Writing sample(s) will be required.

SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

Excellent writing and editing skills.

Strong interpersonal skills required for working with hospital leadership and study staff.

Analytical skills and the ability to resolve technical or research problems and issues and to interpret the acceptability of data results.

High degree of computer literacy.

Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize a variety of tasks.

Careful attention to detail.

Ability to demonstrate professionalism and respect for subjects rights and individual needs.
