Job Summary

The EEG Technologist, under the direction of Manger will participate as an integral member of the Neurodiagnostic Services by performing EEGs, Video/EEG monitoring and patient observation, or evoked potentials (EPs) and other specialized procedures in both inpatient and outpatient settings, including nursing floors, intensive care units and other specialized locations.

The EEG Technologist will ensure electrode and equipment integrity.

The EEG Technologist actively participates in departmental and organizational programs, including performance improvement activities, in-services and staff development activities.

The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations is required.

* Work Environment

* Keeps working areas neat, orderly and clutter-free, including the hallways. Adheres to cleaning processes and puts things back where they belong. Removes and reports broken equipment and furniture.

* Picks up and disposes of any litter found throughout entire facility.

* Posts flyers and posters in designated areas only; does not post on walls, doors or windows.

* Knows where the Environment of Care Manual is kept in department; corrects or reports unsafe conditions to the appropriate departments.

* Protects the physical environment and equipment from damage and theft.

Required Qualifications

* Prior experience working with an interdisciplinary health provider team

* High School diploma or equivalent

* Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing

* Proficient in computer skills including Word, Excel, and on line communication

* Possession of good interpersonal, time management, problem solving and self-initiation skills

* Graduate from an accredited training program in Electroneurodiagnostics or a combination of training and experience

* Ability to work variable shifts and days

* Demonstrates ability to be an independent, motivated self-starter

Preferred Qualifications

* One year of experience as an EEG Technologist

* Prior experience working in an academic medical center environment

* Knowledge of basic medical terminology

* Experience with computerized medical equipment

* Possession of current CPR certification
