Job Description

Superior Group is hiring an EH&S Engineer for our San Carlos, CA based business partner.
This is a 1+ year contract

The implementation and administration of environmental, health and safety programs ensuring compliance with Federal, State and local EH&S regulations.
The focus of this position will be health and safety.
Ensure compliance with regulatory agency requirements and develop/implement/administer regulatory programs such as IIPP, PPE, electrical safety, lockout/tagout, confined space entry, fall protection, machine guarding and hazard communication.
Perform incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
Conduct job hazard analysis, and recommend preventative/corrective action where EH&S hazards exist.
Interact with all departments to assist with EH&S issues.
Interact with regulatory agencies.
Perform workplace ergonomics evaluations, safety audits/inspections, PPE analysis, etc.
Coordinate annual industrial hygiene testing to monitor employee workplace exposure to hazardous materials and implement necessary corrective action/control measures.
Perform safety engineering reviews on existing equipment and new equipment/processes.
Train employees on EH&S programs.
Accurately maintain EH&S records.
Coordinate and administer the Confined Space Rescue and Emergency Response Teams.
An undergraduate degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or related field
Able to lift 35 lbs.
Able to pass ERT/respirator physical exam
Strong interpersonal communication and time management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
Working knowledge of Fed/Cal-OSHA, CA Health and safety Code, NFPA and fire code
Demonstrated experience developing and implementing programs and systems for new and changing EHS regulations
Knowledge and experience regarding chemical safety in the workplace
Must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects that may involve a number of stakeholders with little supervision

Required Skills / Qualifications:

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Environmental program experience including permitting and agency interfacing experience.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience electrical experience and as a Radiation Safety Officer.

Preferred Skills / Qualifications:

Advanced training in respiratory protection, lockout/tagout, fall protection, industrial hygiene, ventilation, high voltage electrical safety and confined spaces.
Current certification in HAZOPER, first aid/CPR/AED, confined space rescue and DOT hazardous materials training.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM).
