SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Support and develop Energy Management System (EMS) applications, including Automatic Generation Control (AGC), State Estimation (SE), and Contingency Analysis (CA).

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

* Develop solutions to resolve Mitigate AGC, SE, and CA problems. .

* Tune and troubleshoot AGC applications to ensure proper generation control within MISO balancing authority footprint.

* Ensure SE and CA outputs are reasonable and usable for purposes of Security Constrained Economic Dispatch (SCED), Locational Marginal Pricing (LMP), and other downstream applications.

* Conduct testing of software changes to EMS applications, new network and Security Constrained and Dispatch Applications (SCADA) models to ensure EMS applications produce consistent and credible results.

* Participate in the development of internal tools to improve application results.

* Examine existing routine data within area of responsibility in which results are predictable.

* Evaluate low risk problems to identify solutions or alternative outcomes.

* Apply basic power engineering concepts to recommend courses of action to decision makers

* Apply basic concepts of issues or situations to accomplish daily work or to recommend courses of action in order for others to make decisions on matters that affect the team.

* Compliance with all processes, procedures, and standards applicable to the position including (but not limited to): SSAE16 (Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements No. 16), CIP (Critical Infrastructure Protection), Change Management, Tariff (Open Access Transmission, Energy and Operating Reserve Markets Tariff), FERC (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission), NERC (North American Electric Reliability Corporation), U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and NAESB (North American Energy Standards Board).

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology required.

Experience:

* One year market operations, reliability coordination, generation dispatch, balancing authority operations, or transmission operations preferred.

* Prior experience tuning and supporting Automatic Generation Control software preferred.

* One year advanced application functions of an Energy Management System including Automatic Generation Control, State Estimation and Contingency Analysis preferred.

Knowledge:

* Principles, practices, and administration of technical issues.

* Project management and administration of programs.

* NERC, FERC and Regional requirements, policies and procedures.

* CPS and DCS reliability standards and requirements.

* Power system operation, planning, modeling, and voltage analysis.

* Software development and programming principles.

* Microsoft Office Suite.
