Serving the residents of Palm Beach County for 20 years - The Health Care District of Palm Beach County is a special taxing district that is an equal opportunity employer of approximately 1000 employees. The Health Care District's mission is to maximize the health and well-being of Palm Beach County residents by addressing health care needs and planning for the access and delivery of health services. Maintains awareness of all regulatory requirements along with guidelines and changes established by the appropriate regulatory agencies.
Ensures District personnel are kept knowledgeable and in compliance with current and forecast training requirements.
Develops and maintains electronic and paper recordkeeping program to insure training schedules and requirements are met in a timely manner for all personnel.
Coordinates personnel scheduling and provides integrated ground instruction for pilots, medical personnel, ground personnel, and others as necessary.
Monitors and reviews training partner programs providing additional training as necessary to ensure all compliance requirements are met.
Develops and coordinates quality assurance procedures for training program to ensure personnel competency and operational safety.
Reviews reports for verification of training program efficiency and personnel comprehension.
Coordinates and updates training activities and enhancements or deficiencies in the training program with the Director of Medical Transport and Aeromedical Facilities.
Maintains the department read file and aeromedical library.
Assists the Director of Medical Transport and Aeromedical Facilities with the operational aspects of the program as assigned.
Supervises the flight crewmembers in proper operation of the Aeromedical Helicopter.
Has final authority in the safety determination of performance of a flight.
Accepts or rejects mission requests based on all applicable regulations, the Districts General Operations Manual, Standard Operating Procedures, and best practices.
Represents the District Aeromedical Program during public education presentations and demonstrations.
Assumes Pilot in Command (PIC) responsibilities for the District Aeromedical program when assigned.
Assists in development and implementation of EMS operational procedures.
Assists in formulating and implementing EMS helicopter safety procedures and the Safety Management System.
Conducts passenger briefings, ground and aviation safety orientation, and drills.
Updates applicable manuals upon receipt of changes.
Reports any program, aircraft, facility, or regulation discrepancy to the Director of Medical Transport and Aeromedical Facilities.
Reviews aircraft logs, maintenance service schedule, and the computer maintenance tracking log for aircraft discrepancies.
Collaborates with the Director of Maintenance and the Director of Medical Transport and Aeromedical Facilities regarding discrepancies and the completion of outstanding aircraft maintenance.
Plans flight assignments and completes a risk assessment considering purpose of the flight, altitude, terrain, obstacles, weather, range, weight and balance, airport facilities, landing area data, navigational aids, crew human factors, and patients/passengers.
Prepares a weight and balance computation schedule and load manifest pursuant to FAR's and District policy.
