JOB DESCRIPTIONJob Summary:
Design and deliver science instruments for space flight missions; work with scientists and engineers across technical boundaries to develop instrument concept; prototype detectors and electronics in laboratory vacuum systems; travel to the facilities of other instrument team members to participate in design meetings; write requirement and specification documents; design flight electronics to meet high-reliability requirements that are necessary for NASA missions; troubleshoot engineering hardware in cooperation with software engineers; write procedures and conduct comprehensive hardware verification tests; deliver presentations to NASA representatives in formal design reviews; provide support for instrument qualification tests and calibration, including field tests at customer facilities (NASA centers, government labs); participate in commissioning and operation of science instrument after it has been launched into space.
Requires a BS degree in Electrical Engineering with at least a 3.0 GPA and 0-2 years of experience with strong analog design and analysis skills, some digital design background, and hardware/software troubleshooting; experience with scientific instruments associated electronics and detector systems preferred with the ability to write requirement and specification documents, procedures and conduct comprehensive hardware verification tests; possess strong communication and presentation skills to deliver presentations to internal as well as external customers (NASA, ESA, commercial). A valid/clear driver's license is required.
Must be a U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident due to ITAR work in section.
