JOB DESCRIPTIONAPPLY GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
Under general supervision of the Operations Supervisor and following established procedures, performs a variety of tasks to maintain the appearance, safety, cleanliness, operability and orderliness of the Parking Department facilities.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operates, cleans and performs simple operator maintenance on all department vehicles, power washers, compressors, striping machines, mechanical sweepers, ticket dispensers, gate arms and mechanisms.
Uses power tools to hang signage, emplace protective barriers, and delineate restrictive areas.
Power cleans, strips old paint, paints stairwells, curbs, posts, walls, floors and parking spaces in the garage, cleans, repaints and maintains handicapped spaces in the garage.
Replace light bulbs and fixtures throughout the Parking Department facilities.
Dry dusts, damp dusts, washes and or polishes fixed furniture and equipment items such as tables, desks and file cabinets, horizontal and vertical surfaces such as walls, doors and partitions, as well as ledges, pipes, corners and other hard to reach surfaces using step stools or ladders as necessary.
Cleans and polishes mirrors, stainless steel, brass and other decorative materials as necessary.
Vacuums carpets, rugs and weather mats using a standard vacuum cleaner. Remove spots as necessary.
Sanitizes and disinfects sinks, toilets, and other restroom fixtures and accessories.
Refill all dispensers in the restrooms as well as other garage areas where applicapable.
Move all furniture and equipment before cleaning and rearrange it in an orderly fashion after cleaning.
Clean all garages and lots of trash, empties and disposes of full waste receptacles in proper locations according to procedures. This includes all elevator and vestibule areas. Reline receptacles with clean bags. Reports facility repair needs to the immediate supervisor or to other designated persons as necessary.
Uses and monitors radios on both police and parking frequencies. Uses radio to coordinate Police, Ambassadors and Parking Department responses.
Provides emergency services to garages and lots: uses fire extinguishers to contain, or extinguish car fires, contains and cleans hazardous material such as leaking gasoline and antifreeze, provides crowd and traffic control, assists Police & Security in searching for suspects and vehicles.
Provides assistance to customers in the garages and lots, jump starts automobiles, inflates flat tires, drives customers through garages and lots for lost vehicles, provides directions and answers questions about parking policy.
Maintains cashier work areas. This includes emptying trash as well as cleaning windows inside and out.
Loads, hauls and unloads 5500 lb. Sweeper to various lots and garages
Spreads calcium chloride and shovels snow during the winter months
Follow all checklists for daily duties provided by the supervisor.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
Must be able to speak, read and write English.
Knowledge of cleaning technique, material, supply and chemical usage, and operation of manual and power equipment
Knowledge of painting technique, materials, surface preparation, disposal, storage and use of striping machines and powered paint sprayers
Knowledge of operator maintenance techniques and use of hand and power tools
Basic knowledge of electricity
Must be able to clearly communicate by radio
Ability to stand, walk, push, pull, bend, crouch, lift, reach an stretch throughout the work day
Push, pull and move items weighing up to 75 pounds (less than 10% of work time)
High school diploma, GED or equivalent
Required: 2-4 years of related experience.
Preferred: Experience with operating power washers, mechanical sweepers, striping machines, etc. and the ability to perform simple maintenance
Valid Drivers license
