BRIEF POSTING DESCRIPTION:
Position is within the Regional Services Area as a Traveling System Administrator (TSA) in support of the Unmanned customer sites. Selected candidate is responsible for installing, upgrading, configuring and maintaining Unix/Windows workstations and servers, including Web servers, in support of business processing requirements at multiple sites throughout Region Services. The candidate will work closely with remote users to coordinate site visits and upgrades, provide telephone and remote resolution support for trouble calls, and provide TIER 2/3 support of the remote systems. The TSA will travel throughout the southwest US on a regular basis; as well as to CONUS and/or OCONUS sites as needed for surge/crisis support. IA Certification Requirement:

This position will support the Operations and Sustainment (O&S) of the NIES, NLE, and WALA architectures and stand
-alone production workstations under the IT/IS program. The candidate will be required to work on various imagery segments, associated systems, and the other Government Customer's assets under the IT/IS program located throughout the region to include ENCORE, RRS, laptops, and peripherals. Perform basic day
-to
-day system administration tasks, installation of new customer software releases, system upgrades, evaluation and installation of patches and resolution of software related problems associated with COTS/GOTS products on Sun UNIX, SGI IRIX and Windows 2000 / XP platforms. Provides general trouble
-shooting on the customer workstations, creates user accounts, maintains data files, and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity. Duties also include performing hardware maintenance and repairs with vendors. The selected candidate participate in hardware/software testing as required, interfaces with development/integration facility during discrepancy reporting process and assists in site CM. Performs system backups and recovery, provides general trouble
-shooting on the customer system, maintains data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity. The selected candidate may be asked to participate in analyzing new hardware/software needs and participates in customer TEMs, reviews and meetings pertaining to customer issues. Candidate must understand NIS+, NFS, Windows Active Directory as well as monitoring all system processes, ability to script in Unix/Windows and modify scripts as necessary for automation and configuration management. Must have general knowledge of network administration and possess network configuration management skills. Excellent customer relations skills are a must. Candidate must have ability to work shift work, travel frequently, and respond to after hour calls. Active TS/SCI clearance with current single scope background investigation (SSBI) required. Performs software installations and upgrades to Unix/Windows operating systems and layered software packages and maintains them in accordance with established policies, procedures and service level agreements. Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum level of performance. Travel will occur on a regular basis between the southwestern sites, as well as to CONUS and/or OCONUS sites as needed for surge/crisis support. Job RequirementsEducation, Skill, and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree and 5
-8 years of relevant work experience or equivalent relevant work experience. Candidate should be familiar with the Customers processes and procedures and have knowledge of the customer's production systems. Prefer the candidate have some experience in the imagery intelligence domain. Candidate must have UNIX and Windows system administration training with a minimum of three years experience in a related technical field. Prefer skills in one or more of the following:
IRIX, Informix, SQL, and Imagery Production Chain. Physical Requirements:
Requires lifting or moving various pieces of computer equipment, maximum 40 lbs.
